My daughter has been using the smaller size for several seasons (same for every practice and game - yes, washed regularly) and is holding up great. I bought the next size up for the pair's next season.

This is the only brand and it fits my children. We update the size every year as they grow. Compression, strong velcro (so strong that you can't wash delicate items or the velcro will tear them), they do the job.

It looks like they just took men's gym shorts and then put a flattened cup inside. They fit great, but a "Jill" is just a very thin piece of carbon fiber-like material with foam on the back. It offers very little puck protection.

Good product. The fit is fairly snug and the protective pad is very stiff. My daughter needed a size up so I tried the medium size. She is 10 and 64 pounds. Usually wears a size 8 in medium pants or youth and found it too tight/uncomfortable. The length and the velcro are very suitable for attaching socks.

I'm not a fan of this defender. The straps on the inside that you have to thread each leg through (like the old cheap types) make it uncomfortable to wear, I've tried without the straps and the skid plate won't stay in place. It looks like someone did it without a woman's involvement. I would not recommend it. My last protector was much more comfortable, unfortunately the company that made my last protector is no longer in business.
