Love the Shun Classic line

I have several Shun Classic knives and love them all. This is just the latest addition to my set. Insanely sharp right out of the box and works great.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Fading

Very sharp handle, slightly thinner than expected

As always, Shun blades are razor sharp. This is a paring knife so be aware that the handle is SIGNIFICANTLY thinner than other larger blades. Makes it a bit inconvenient for tedious prep work.

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Overall OK, but...

With pride: cutlery and knife accessories

Looks very sharp and sharp. I use it a lot more than I thought I would and it goes perfectly with my other Shun knives. I think there could be better knives but I'm really proud to use this knife and it makes me smile. That's worth a lot to me. :)

Great Knife - Kitchen & Dining

This knife is very good for precise cuts and looks great. This knife is made from a harder steel than many famous German knives. This makes it sharper and lasts longer. This also means the blade is more brittle and can chip or break when trying to cut hard (like bones) or frozen food. If you're going to spend that much money on a knife, do yourself a favor and learn how to take care of it, there are many helpful videos on YouTube.

Pros
  • Cool
Cons
  • No Mold Required

Great knife just a bit long

I give this knife five stars because it's a great blade like all Shun products. My only complaint is that for a paring knife, the 3.5 inch version is better. This knife works like a paring knife, but for finer peeling jobs (like prepping tomato roses, pitting strawberries, etc.) the 4-inch blade is a little long and awkward to work with (and I have handheld pans). ) . I don't want to dismiss the product for that reason, still a great knife but maybe too big for a general purpose paring knife.

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Can't remember

We're not into knives, but we LOVE this knife!

We are not ordinary knife owners. We live on a tiny sailboat in PNW and own three knives (including this one). We cook most of our food and this knife made cooking so much fun. He's incredibly hot and handsome. It slices fruit with little to no pressure. And makes over 1/8 inch cuts in almost anything, which is very easy. It was great for my wife who had some wrist issues. This knife is designed to be used with a slicing motion, not an up/down slicing motion. If you don't have good knives I…

Avoid paring knives

I am in awe every time I buy a new Shun knife, I have become a Japanese knife converter and got rid of all German kitchen knives. They seem so inferior to me now that I have all the shuns, I can't remember cooking with them so much. It's definitely a "you won't know until you know" syndrome and now I can't believe I've never tried them before. This paring knife (like all Shuns) can do almost anything, it's great for fruit but can also chop garlic or shallots if needed. The blades are incredibly

Pros
  • I have my fingers crossed

  • Not bad
