So clear and crisp!

I sing in a contemporary Christian band at church. We have quite a big sound system and a full band and track setup. I always thought Beta 58a that our church uses was dirty, but I always thought it had something to do with PA. I ended up buying a beta version of the 87a and was amazed at the clarity of the sound. Even via in-ear headphones, I'm finally very happy with the sound I get from this mic. Loud, quiet, speaking. It's like hearing your own voice, I think that's the best way to put itโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Built-in pop screen reduces unwanted wind and breath noise
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

Lightweight with great sound!

Condenser mics are becoming more and more popular as I use them more than non-condenser mics. The headsets I use for live broadcast have hypercardioid condensers (Beyerdynamic) and they just sound way better than the SM58 I used for live/commercial. The only problem was that I couldn't use my headphones for the live announcement because there would be too many reviews! Always wanted a full featured studio condenser mic but didn't get the bill. This Beta 87A fits right in the middle! It's veryโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Wide dynamic range (117dB) and low distortion performance
Cons
  • Some bugs

Spend enough time with audio industry professionals and the conversation inevitably turns to "What's your microphone on a desert island?" In other words, if If you only had one microphone for everything, what would it be? While many people will say Shure SM57, I wholeheartedly disagree. That's it. Hands off, no question. While it's an excellent vocal mic for live performance, it's equally impressive for recording everything from acoustic guitars to portable percussion shakers. I bought one forโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Consistent frequency response with gradual increase in presence
Cons
  • So far, so good
