good product as advertised

I used it in my summer kitchen. It pumps water from a 40 gallon tank to a sink faucet. It has an automatic pressure switch that starts the pump when the faucet valve is activated.

Pulsation makes it useless for water heaters

Because this pump has a pulsing effect, it doesn't work well with portable water heaters as the pulsing kills the flame and requires constant ignition. It's useless for my portable camping shower.

Easy to replace, much better printing!

At least on my Dutch Star, it's very affordable and pretty easy to replace. I had a small but constant leak in the old one. I matched the part number to this one and it took about 30 minutes to swap it out. No more leaks and better water pressure as a bonus!

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Frequency

Pump failed: Rough plumbing

I have used Shurflo pumps for many years. This pump lasted 1 month. I used this to clean my plane off the tank in my truck. I used it once when I got it in July and then a month later the pump won't turn on. Thought it was my connections, double checked and tried to troubleshoot. I will not buy Shurflo again.

Pros
  • Great product
Cons
  • Poor repairability

A bit weak: Pump accessories

For a self-priming pump, it seems rather weak to me. I use it to pump water out of an aluminum pontoon hull. The inlet hose is about 36 inches below the pump and it takes a long time for water to get to the pump. I try to fill the suction hose to the pump with water before turning it on, but it still takes a few minutes for the water to come out. Pump to suck water through.

Pros
  • Trial period for one year
Cons
  • Can't remember

LEAKS FROM THE START.

We installed this to replace an old model that stopped drawing water. This device is a higher flow model, but it collects water and supplies it with good pressure. Unfortunately this block has been leaking at the bottom seal and has been since we installed it. I think quality control would be better on this expensive pump.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Functionality

Not suitable for stainless steel Pump accessories

The pump works well on my Searay with three units running at the same time. Only giving 4 stars because I read somewhere that it's stainless steel and there's actually nothing marine about the pump. All the screws and the case appear to be made of zinc. Will be great for those who don't use it in marine environments. I bought it to save money over the seawater series which is 2-3 times larger. I'll pump it 'til it rusts with some Newjorns and then upgrade it to Marine :)

For the 5th wheel - pump accessories

Our water pump simply failed due to age. My 5th bike is 2011 and we live there full time and travel around the US. Therefore, the pump is used frequently. We replaced the dead one with this one and it was easy to install on our particular RV, may be more difficult for others depending on location. After installation, it immediately started to work and we returned to running water. Very happy with the pump. It's not loud or uncomfortable. It's definitely quieter than the previous pump I had…

Pros
  • Pretty package
Cons
  • Nothing included
