🧩 Sierra International 18-5817 Solenoid with Vertical Post and Angled Bracket Review

3 successful magnet boat trips before another failure. The block was only installed 3 months. Battery arcing when connected. The starter works all the time. All signs of a bad solenoid.

Perfect as a replacement for my old solenoid which was causing my 5.0 Mercruiser not to start. I used to turn the key and hear the magnet click but the starter would not engage. Now it works every time on my first ride.

I had a problem with my boat capsizing but when I kept turning the key it finally started. I swapped the starter and solenoid and still the same problem. One day my trim stopped working so I replaced the trim solenoid and the trim started working and the starting problem went away.

Can only give 3 stars, if I could give 2.5 stars it would be perfect. The reason is that only 1 of the 2 solenoids worked. They came exactly as described, they are not copper as stated in several posts. Revain sent me a replacement immediately. The magnetic coils often do not work either. It's a shame it's being done this way now. The solenoids I replaced on my boat were 1989 originals.
