That's a great idea, but impractical. Cats with claws tear it up when they bury their droppings. When cleaning the pot, dirt and debris will seep in everywhere, creating a mess. I only recommend using it on cats that have had their claws removed. But then why get a house cat? It seems that human animals who removed their claws also shaved them to prevent molting.

I've been using litter boxes with a strainer for a few years - the bowl stays like new, it doesn't need to be cleaned (except sometimes the lid). The elastic tends to stretch and be less effective, but the shell cover holds the layers of plastic films in place. A bit finicky to install and bedding needs to be deep enough so the perforations don't catch, but overall a very good product.

These toilet liners fit me perfectly! I have 6 cats with claws and they have never torn liners, but I keep about 4 inches of litter in my litter boxes as a pair, my cats really love to dig deep.
