100% satisfied with this lens.

I have had this lens for about 5 years now and use it constantly. Boosting is fast, image quality is excellent. Nikon 70-200 lenses are sharper, but not in a significant way. This lens doesn't interfere with the shot, and that's the most important thing. I have shot over 40 weddings and hundreds of family photo shoots with this lens and am 100% satisfied with it.

One of my favorite lenses

I'm a wedding photographer and this is one of my favorite lenses! A lot of people are surprised by this because it's bulky, but I just love the image compression and the close-ups you can capture with it. I almost always use it throughout the wedding ceremony and also for toasts and dances at the reception to get a close-up. It's definitely hard, but worth it because you can take beautiful photos!

Excellent lens (Nikon version)

This lens is great compared to Nikon 70-200 VR2 grip. 4- Built like a tank. I dropped it twice on hard ground from 1.6 meters, nothing but scratches 5 - very weak (no more than Nikon) and very good ventilation (almost the same as Nikon) 6 - very fast focusing with no disadvantages in weak Light (with Nikon D600 and D750) recommended high,

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Something different

Completely (and surprisingly) satisfied. I needed something that wasn't too expensive but comparable to Nikkor. This good. I use it on D5000, D5100 and D5200. Each of them produces excellent low-light images. It was delivered in record time on Wednesday and used at a football game on Thursday night. 2.8 and a shutter speed of 250 gave an excellent image for a low-light stadium. I wasn't in the field. I was in the grandstand in the 2nd row. THANK YOU Sigma. You've come a long way! Updated…

Sigma 70 200 OS lens

Incredible lens. The first test I did was for sharpness. I saw a cricket on my wall and from 6ft away at 200mm with a shutter speed of f5.6 125 and the built in flash of my Nikon D 3500. It was obviously very small in the picture. When I zoomed in I couldn't believe how sharp and detailed it was. I do macro photography and have an expensive macro lens and I would give this shot an 8 out of 10 for sharpness if it were a macro lens. I was shocked, if I can upload a picture I will. Second, I…

My baby's sports photos are no longer blurry!

Background: I am not a professional photographer. I'm not a beginner either - I have a DSLR and several different lenses. After all, I am also a mother and it has always been difficult for me to get clear pictures of my children in motion. I've played with the settings, studied, read, practiced and tried many, many times. I'm still disappointed in the photos I took when my kids were playing/running/not kids anymore. Pros: This lens was my first real "investment" lens and it has made a huge…

Great general purpose lens

I would call it a professional lens for enthusiasts with a good sense of quality that will give you great shots. Dollars on the Canon Nikon, etc versions, use the money saved on even more gear. It really is that good. The few negative reviews I read turned out to be bullshit, probably written by people who convinced themselves that the only way to get good recordings was to spend the maximum amount that the big operators know about. I'm sure there are the occasional accidents caused by damage…

In the world of shaky sports, why have I waited so damn long?

Having been interested in photography for a long time and having been on a tight budget most of the time, I finally settled on what I thought was a decent lens. Now, after using this lens for a couple of weeks, I'm wondering two things; 1. why did I think it was just a "decent lens" and 2. why in the world of edgy sports did I wait so damn long to buy one? I'm by no means a professional photographer, but operating this lens (range and focus rings) is like spreading warm butter on toast, SMOOTH…

SIGMA VS CANON?! It all boils down to money and fair use.

I'm not a professional, just a keen enthusiast who loves Canon cameras and products. I DO NOT EARN ANY MONEY from my photos, I just enjoy taking great photos of my family and friends. I was in the mood to buy a Canon 70-200 2.8 IS II ($2100) and then saw this lens at a local camera rental. The shop owner had nothing but good things to say about the Sigma and gave me Canon and Sigma 70-200 2.8 lenses to try and encouraged me to use one over the weekend. I picked up a Sigma to see what the hype…
