Great lens for everything.

I love this lens. He brings everything into the picture. The images are good and sharp on my D800. If you want the autofocus to work, you'll need a higher quality Nikon body with a screw-drive autofocus motor.

Pros
  • quality construction
Cons
  • thin

Great for 360° work, seems overpriced for it.

Great for 360° work, seems overpriced for such an old design. The camera uses an autofocus motor, so make sure your camera is rated to work with the D810 but is slow to seek focus.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Fade

Hemi photos in camera & photo

I use this lens to take hemispherical (180 degree) coastal photos for work to determine the level of shade in the tree canopy, this is just what I need and it works great. Note that for a Type-C sensor you need a Sigma 4.5, not an 8mm (full frame) sensor. Both lenses are excellent for this type of work.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Piggy bank price

Save your money/better alternatives

I use this exclusively for recording 360 virtual tours and Google Business View tours. I like the lens: the images are sharp, the colors are good, but the price is too high! I have a Rokinon 8mm lens with roughly the same coverage. It says "Fisheye" on it, but it's actually not, which allows me to use it for apps other than VR Panos. It's also 1/3 the cost of a Sigma 8mm and works great. The only reason I (reluctantly) bought the Sigma 8mm is because Google needed it. Save money and get Rokinon

Pros
  • Brilliantly done

  • Bad set

Used professionally in the film industry for many years

I work in the visual effects industry and do computer imaging for multi-million dollar films and this lens is not just a must it is the best what you need. Find. Very high quality, stable and workhorse. I recommend using this lens in other professions as well. Ideal for creating 360 degree Quick TIME VR movies. For fun. It's a HUGE hit at parties. You will get great results and everyone will be so interested when you hold your lens 2 inches from your face to snap a picture! Advantages Robust…

Lens front cap and adapter ring

I've been using the lens for about 6 months now and of course I handle the lens very carefully, especially when removing the lens front cap. I immediately noticed that the front lens adapter ring is a bit loose and tends to slip off, "just doesn't fit" and has a thin metal rim. I'm a professional photographer and use the lens on a daily basis and this eventually happened, I took the lens out of my bag and the thin edge on the front adapter ring that the front lens cap snaps onto slipped off and

Go Circular: Camera Lenses

This is a specialty lens that creates a circular image on the sensor. When used in certain situations, the results can be amazing. Also, remember if your camera has megapixels that you can crop to get a "rectangular" close-up. In my honest opinion, every serious photographer should have ONE fisheye (round or slanted) in their bag. from all other lenses and with an extremely wide angle you can literally be inches away from the main subject and include it in the whole scene. Pros: Lightweight…

Good quality lens but expensive

I am using this lens with a Canon EOS 6D (ex 5D) full frame camera and my previous fisheye lens was a Peleng 3.5/8mm. The optical quality of the Sigma is really excellent compared to the bearing. Most importantly, the resolution is much better than Bearing. It outperforms a 12MP (5D) sensor and looks very good on a 20MP (6D) sensor. This lens gave my spherical panoramas a huge boost in quality. I can even take pictures with the sun in the frame without any problems - there are almost no flares…

Pros
  • A bit above
Cons
  • Minor issues

Got it on occasion. I wanted to get rid of it, but at first I took it to shoot on a long trip ... and fell in love. I recommend it to everyone - the price has fallen by more than 1.5 times. When I took it, it was 51000. Yes, by changing the camera tilt, you can achieve an almost correct horizon line. Raising or lowering, we get either a strongly concave horizon, or a convex one. It's stupid to swear about distortion - fish!

Pros
  • I liked everything - a gorgeous picture, which is converted into a normal one with two clicks in the editor. Color, contrast - everything is on top. That sharp, you can not say! Both crop and full frame.
Cons
  • Be careful, you can easily scratch the front glass - do not fasten the protective filter.
