Works great in baking pans

Allegedly made in France. When I received the package it said "Made in China". I am updating my review and rating which was originally 1 star for falsely advertising that the product was made in France. Regardless, it works exactly as I would expect with cake not sticking to pans, so I'm happy to report it.

Size matters, good for kitchen and dining room

I've seen a few reviews mentioning that they are too big or too small so I wanted to share my pics. I use a USA Pans pan and my 8 inch pan has exactly 8 inches on the bottom. If you look at my first photo you can see a very small margin around the edge of the silpat and in the second I moved the silpat up to the edge of the pan and you can see the gap at the top. For me the gap is negligible as long as the silpat is centered. Next time I will buy a 9" size and hope they fit the same.

The best of the best!

We have a secret recipe for carrot cake with orange and pineapple juice and a portion of pineapple pulp. It's a nightmare, the wet bits sticking to the pan. These silpats are perfect. We realized there were other brands at a lower price and went with the original Silpats brand. There is something special about the food you eat and we didn't want to risk introducing foreign substances into the food when cooking hot. China can use lead in its paints, so the risk is unknown. It's just a health…

Works well. on baking tins

I like to make very thin cakes so they can be stacked with custard in between. I have used parchment circles in cupcake pans. They worked great for getting the cupcakes out of the pans but slipped a lot when trying to spread the 1/2 cup of batter on the 8 inch pan. I tried it to see if it stays in place. This makes it much easier to get the batter into the pan. The cake separates easily. A thin layer of cake remains on top, but also parchment. It's worth it if you're doing a lot of thin layers.

Pros
  • Wide range

  • Can't remember

Never again on parchment

I was hesitant at first because I was already so used to parchment and all my recipes were also developed with parchment. But not much seems to change, except that I no longer have to pre-cut the paper! Definitely also a win for the environment. Looks and feels the same as my existing silpats and has worked well with both chiffon and butter cakes as expected. As a precaution, don't peel it off the cake like it's a thin piece of parchment. Because of the thickness, you can cut off a piece of the

Cleaning? clean what? Nothing sticks to silicone. Solved my problems

Never knew the answer to cooking pizza and wouldn't dig it out of a stainless steel pan. I just made my first pizza that I didn't have to dig and scrape to get out of the pan using this item. I really only needed one. As they are expensive I suggest you take two and share the order with someone else. I placed mine on the bottom of a glass (made in Brazil) Miranix cake pan. Fits like a glove, no overlap. I had to be really careful to remove the Sil-Pat. I didn't use a knife as you wouldn't even…
