Hard drive oven with the worst legs.

This thing has been burning up my hard drives ever since I installed them. It has less airflow than my QNAP 4-bay NAS, which has a small fan and no ventilation, and the temperature in the same room is 10 degrees higher. Dollars and they know they probably include extras because they know the design isn't perfect and they didn't want to spend money on multiple screw holes and real feet. Not that the vents on the bottom matter or anything. oh wait, there is.

Pros
  • Best in its niche
Cons
  • Reliability

A good case with a well-defined purpose

The thing is, this case is basically all about the SAS/SATA backplane. That's what it's for, and that's the main reason you can buy this case. and it works as expected. I've been using it for several days and checked the possibility of hot-swapping. A number of SAS drivers are running. Happy with the body. It does have a few downsides, so it's good to be aware of that. Ventilation in the case is pretty poor, and the case itself has no impact on noise, either from the fans or the drives…

Pros
  • Amazing
Cons
  • Poorly thought out

Really bad case in form over function

Due to the way this case is designed, there is almost no airflow over drives installed in hot-swap bays or cards with passive cooling. There are no fans on the cases that contain these bays, there is no way to install fans on this case, and the vents are cut into multiple panels. The panes heat up to uncomfortable temperatures.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Damaged

Cool compact case for server/NAS system

In this case there is no problem with the temperature of the hard disk, that's why. as the result. In such a scenario, the crossover air passively exits through the hard drive bay in front of the chassis. My FAN build: - Stock fans were thrown in the trash with the safety device removed for reuse - Intake fans were chosen by Noctua NF - A12x25 PWM, it's a silent monster at 2,000rpm - End fans separate case and CPU cooling - Corsair iCUE H100i Elite Capellix (the only solution for my processor).

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Security

Terrible design for cooling hard drives

The CS381B seemed like the perfect NAS case. 8 hot-swap bays in a compact form factor with Mini-ITX support. It even has two SSD slots, ideal for cache drives. I have a Supermicro A2SDi-8C+-HLN4F for this chassis. Mini-SAS HD to Mini-SAS HD, perfect! There don't appear to be any other cases or 4 x 5.25" drive bays in the US market that support this connector. Everything was going great until I started working with bad blocks. The drive temperature rose to 65 Β°C! Totally unacceptable. It came…

Good server/workstation case

I wanted to build a new home server and needed it to fit in a very limited space. This case fit the bill but was quite expensive so I hesitated. I don't have to worry - this case is perfect for my needs. A small, compact system with plenty of storage that can house a standard Micro-ATX motherboard and a full AM4 processor. Build quality is "fairly good". The included 120mm fans are good low-noise devices with high performance. The chassis is made of fairly thick sheet metal, but the front…

Overall great awesome now

Love this case. It looks great, runs quietly and can hold so many drives. I would have given it 5 stars but one of the included drive cages started smoking as soon as the included Molex cable was connected to it and died afterwards so I sent this drive cage back to SilverStone for a replacement or repair. The other drive cage works great. I will update my review once the case is fully functional. Despite the issues I've had, I still recommend this case. Edit: A week after posting this review I…

Drives are not recognized

I can't get my operating system or BIOS to recognize my drives in the bay. I bought a CPS05-RE cable and plugged it directly into the motherboard, but none of my drives are recognized. Advise not to have to send the case back.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • There are errors
