We purchased this small parts scissors set as we needed to replace an old sewing scissors that had become worn out after several generations of use. The Singer brand made the selection easy, but we quickly found that it didn't live up to its name. Although they cut paper perfectly, these scissors will not cut fabric or snip loose threads. This morning I go to our local CVS to find a suitable parts cutter and the Singer set goes in the trash.

Gone are the "good old days" of precision scissors handed down from generation to generation. They're made from surprisingly decent stainless steel that still retains its edges. I use them with one pair as beard trimmers, another pair as plain paper, cardboard, "kitchen drawers" and another in the "good scissors" category for trimming threads or modifying clothes. The set has grown from the trial purchase to 4 sets. No "tin snips" but excellent scissors for every day use.

These scissors are terrible. Not sure what scissors others have that give good reviews. I bought these to use exclusively on fabric and was very excited as it is a singer brand. Singer makes a lot of good sewing things, but this isn't one of them. These big scissors won't even cut through fabric! I couldn't get him to cut my pattern yesterday and had to resort to old worn out scissors that kids use for everything. If I still had the packaging I would send it back! Unfortunately I threw them…
