does the job. Good cooler. The shipping materials are not compatible.

I bought two of these, the first was well packed in a box with all the necessary parts. The last one came in a plastic bag in a padded envelope and was damaged in transit. It also lacked a thermal pad. The construction seems solid and they've held up well on the forums. This is the best of the extremely limited options for repurposing an Apple SSD in a classic Mac Pro tower. I'm still using the first one I bought on my Mac Pro 5.1, albeit without a heatsink since the Apple drive I'm using hasโ€ฆ

All around is great, there are things worth looking out for

Overall this item is amazing at a great price. If you're using M.2 NVMe or SATA with a few thicker components on top, the exact fit of the heatsink needs to be adjusted a bit to prevent the (slight) downward bending in the middle of the stick. I put a washer under the NVME drive to keep it from sagging under the stiffer heatsink. It also provides clearance between the thermal pad and the components. To your side and see if light gets through to look for a gap in the middle. If so, you may needโ€ฆ

11/01/2017 Latest update for those with fan issues. 2 PCIe cards I bought. They move a lot of air even when the speed controller is halfway up the board. Even the fans are silent. Sunon 50x50x15mm 12V Mid Speed Fan 2Pin Connector KDE1205PHV2.MS.A.GN Very happy with it. Note that these fans are 15mm thick and the OEM fans on the card are 10mm thick. The screws that come with the PCIe card fan are not long enough. I had a lot of mounting screws at home so I didn't have to run around looking forโ€ฆ

M.2 Drive Cooling: Computer Accessories and Peripherals

UPDATE: January 28, 2019 Glad it's lasted this long. This M.2 PCI card is listed for use with Samsung's nvme line of SSDs, but will work out of the box with the MyDigital BPX 80 nvme SSD. Drivers are not required. I tried another fanless PCI card that worked but didn't lower the drive temperature while running. I almost went for a PCI card with dual fans to keep temperatures down, fans only, no interface for an M.2 drive. The fan-only board had to be mounted directly under the M.2 drive whereโ€ฆ

May not work for SATA m.2.

A friend ended up with a small Dell desktop with an AMD fx 8800p processor. The system had integrated graphics but was running an AMD Radeon R7 or R9 360 GPU and I thought the 2TB drive was outdated. I wanted to put this to good use, so my nephews got a refurbished and upgraded Dell. I replaced the 2TB with a newer 1TB HDD for more reliability and wanted to use the SSD as the primary drive, but ran into a problem. just a sata cable and connector and it was for the floppy drive. I decided toโ€ฆ

It comes with extra M.2 screws.

Well, buy it just because of the large radiator. I chose two because I was running my OS on a cell phone from an m.2 slot. Going with a single processor seemed better than a x299 chipset since I only used x16 lanes out of the 28 available on the 7820x. I don't see any noticeable difference in speed (maybe lower latency? idk), but I'm definitely seeing cooler temperatures. The Corsair Force 500 hit the high 60's and now remains in the low 50's. Crucial p1 won't even reach 40. Different drivesโ€ฆ

Works perfectly. Cools the steering wheel very well!

Received and installed today. My Visiontek 500GB nvme m.2 SSD ran at 35-37 degrees, sometimes reaching 40. Right now when I'm typing, the drive installed on this card registers 22 degrees and reaches a maximum temperature of 30 under load. I leave the fan on run at half speed to extend fan life. I can always increase the fan speed if I see my drive temp rising, which I'm not expecting at the moment. Also, if the fan fails on this card as others have said, I really don't mind just swapping itโ€ฆ
