📸 Sirui K-30X Ball Head: Precision and Stability in Photography Review

I'm trying to love this ball head. It seems great for holding my D750 and 70-300 lens. The problem is I have to buy all new Swiss style bow plates as the ones I have have safety studs on the bottom and won't fit this head. I've also tried removing the quick release mechanism and replacing it with the one I have so I can use my plates, but they have to use some kind of industrial glue or white threadlock because I used 2 good hex keys to loosen it. The Sirui K-40X exceeded my expectations for smoothness and ease of use. It is well made, finished and works very well. This was purchased specifically for use with a large DSLR and Tam. 150-600. The large ball head locking knob offers excellent control over friction and camera movement. A small screw on the side of the handle allows you to set the minimum friction to a predetermined level. This works great as you can go from full lock to a smooth motion without losing your camera in free fall.

This was the most difficult purchase of my entire camera system. Same goes for ball heads and many options from $20 to $1500. I also have a camera rig that weighs about 12 pounds when everything is caged (long lens, ninja recorder, zoom recorder, camera with battery and cage). I was on a trip and someone gave me their RRS BH-55 LR clip ball head to try out. I was very impressed with the quality and smoothness of the work. I liked the lever that opens/closes the jaws for changing lenses/cameras.
