This thing is strong. This works well with a little practice. Works well with leather strips. I just used it to thin 13 gauge leather in the middle of a laptop sleeve I was making so it could be folded. The end product can only rejoice. Very tight coverage and sexy wrinkled back. I love it. By the way, this was my first leather project so there isn't much to learn, but I recommend practicing on leather scraps first.

I'm new to leatherworking but for what I've used this tool does a surprisingly good job of removing the unfinished underside, which was a nuisance I wanted to correct in my projects. Sometimes I use this tool to reduce thickness in certain areas that I don't need for a particular part. I particularly like the ergonomic linkage, with which you can change the amount of material removed depending on the pressure on the linkage.

I'm hesitant to give this five stars just because I'm new to the leather industry. Other than that I gave it 5 stars and I have never been disappointed with a Tandy Leather product. This tool saves time and cuts the skin much cleaner and more efficiently than a regular razor. The extra blades that come with it are nice because if you use this tool a lot, you'll need a lot of blades. I like the solid design and easy access to the blade holder. You only need a screwdriver.
