New design seems less durable

Bought to replace an old version I have after one of the legs failed. The new design looks better but I had trouble attaching the legs for family photos at the beach and I will be going back and buying a spare for my trusty old tripod. I didn't really like the ball head either (maybe just need more). to learn repetitions) and my old tripod had a built in bubble level which was a nice feature to make it easy to set up.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Obsolete model

Good and bad.

This is a really good lightweight compact tripod but not for heavy cameras and lenses. Almost perfect for carrying in a backpack for use with lighter lenses but not for heavier long lenses. The ball head slips under heavy loads and is unsuitable for use with a long telephoto lens mounted on a full-size camera. However, if you are considering how it is used and what exactly it is used for, you should think twice before you buy it. Quick to set up, best for lighter gear, light weight for hiking.

Cheap and light, but also full of junk.

Looks good and can be economical for travel and light camera use, but the quality is worth the price. This tripod is very flimsy, the valves are leaking oil, the chunky ball joint and spirit levels have literally dried up after a few weeks of ownership. There are really few benefits other than form factor and weight, but if you're serious about traveling with this thing, it just isn't strong enough for it. It was barely strong enough to stand on a shelf and not break on its own.

Great portable tripod for the active photographer.

For the money, the Slik Sprint Pro 3 is a great compact tripod. The legs are quick release rather than twist lock. This was an important selling point for me. I don't care about the twist lock. Although the tripod is lightweight, it's quite strong for an aluminum construction. It certainly supports all lightweight mirrorless cameras up to my Sony a7iii. The included ball head is smooth and easy to attach. The tripod supports up to 4 pounds of camera and lens. All in all I can recommend this…

I needed a sturdy tripod, but I didn't want to spend $300 or so.

Needed a sturdy tripod but didn't want to spend $300 for a really good quality tripod. This served its purpose very well for my trip to Iceland. It's not too bulky, the easy and quick camera mount is perfect for chilly nights when gloved hands are trying to capture the Northern Lights. While the lightness is mostly professional, I have to admit that it didn't withstand as much wind as I had hoped, but other than that it was perfect and helped me capture once-in-a-lifetime shots like this.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks

Travel tripod complete with tripods

Nice and light travel tripod. I usually buy Manfrotto tripods but couldn't find anything of the same quality and weight in this price range. We were going to Mexico and I needed something light to carry through the ruins. I took a chance on a new brand (for me) and was not disappointed. I use a Nikon d7000 and my travel lenses are 18-200mm VR and 70-300mm VR, both are fairly heavy glass and the tripod holds them easily. The build quality is excellent, the head is particularly good. I've used it

Large travel tripod

This is a great tripod. It took several others before I found this one. The weight is perfect for my travel pack. I mean, the ideal 2.3 pounds is superior to the 3.12 pounds I wanted to carry around. It has a single locking ball head which is a bit tricky but they added planes on 2 axes which makes it really easy. Anyone who has ever fiddled with a ball head with a clasp knows what I'm talking about. The legs flex a bit but I love this tripod and have added a hook under the center column to…

Gave SLIK a chance, wasn't disappointed!

A few years ago, SLIK Tripods held an event in Malibu and gave me a free t-shirt. I've been wearing it for years even though I don't own any of their products. I have always used Manfrotto, but over time using Manfrotto became very painful. One of the legs was incredibly difficult to bend, the legs folded inward when the tripod was raised, pinching my fingers, and even the tilt lock knob came loose. It's time to try something different and I'm so glad I gave SLIK a try. The SLIK Sprint Pro III…

  • Quick Start Guide

Is the SLIK Sprint 150 the perfect tripod? No (but close). Is it bloody expensive for what you get? Yes. Pros: • Flip-lock legs with enough rigidity to open and close. Twist lock design sucks. • The legs slide out very quickly and easily. • Retractable leg angle design – this design is better than many others – it should be standard. • Very strong with minimal flex. • Slanted legs provide stability on the floor. • Lightweight, especially considering its height. • Flat knobs on center post and…
