Description of πŸ”— Ceramic Twist Connector for Small Gauge Wires (22-14 AWG)

This ceramic wire connector is suitable for a wide range of high-temperature electrical applications and solves melted wire nuts. Specified instead of plastic for applications above 200 degrees F, Maximum working temperature of 1,000 degrees F. There is not a metal coil inside, Instead there is a substantial and sharp tapered thread cast into the ceramic. The small size is roughly equivalent to standard blue or orange small wire nuts.

They are not suitable for industrial electrical equipment

Let me start by saying that I never write reviews. I am an electrician with over 30 years of experience. I bought these high temperature wire nuts to terminate 2 #18 gauge wires in an MR-16 downlight. They don't work, the wires don't catch.

Pros
  • Best of all
Cons
  • Some difficulties

Use it, don't burn down your house!

I used this to install a Rheem water heater after a replacement. In the old one, these caps were melted onto the top electrical connector until the inner metal made contact with the metal case and the whole thing almost burned the house down.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Problems

Arrived early! when wiring and connecting

Turns out I didn't have to use those ceramic nuts but they arrived a day earlier than expected! I've saved them for future use as they don't seem to be available in my local outlets. See my gas oven igniter replacement review for more information. Thanks very much!

Pros
  • Consistent results when tested
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model

Just what I need for security

The last time I replaced the fan in our fireplace insert I used regular wire nuts from a local shop. When I tried replacing it the second time, all of those wire nuts melted and were difficult to remove. With an operating temperature of 1000 degrees, they should be great and easy to swap out next time.

Pros
  • One year trial
Cons
  • Available in white only

Ideal as a replacement igniter

The igniter in the top oven of my GE double oven gas range broke after prolonged use and I decided to replace it myself. Inserting the wires into the board on the back of the oven is very difficult for this model so I took the usual shortcut but I needed high temperature wire connectors to handle the heat in the oven. I've read comments that these caps are too big so I bought a similar set from another supplier (small Supco T1165) just in case. I used them because they were as small as possible

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Not sure
