Large, durable plastic ceiling diffuser

This is a great ceiling diffuser for legacy designs. Replaces the old metal base nailed to the ceiling. No fan rating. Very durable for chandeliers etc.

Pros
  • Easy-to-read control panel
Cons
  • Upgradeable

Heavy Duty - Industrial Durability

This ceiling box is much sturdier than the plastic boxes you find at HD or Lowe's. And the included screws attach much better than nails. Excellent purchase!

Pros
  • Consistent Test Results
Cons
  • Useless Features

Great for old work projects

Great product. I managed to attach it to a wooden joint in the ceiling. It also has 2 screws to fix the lamp. It offers enough space for cables. This is a great solution for "old work projects". In my case, I used it to move a ceiling lamp in the kitchen.

I use a variety of screws

The screws included in the smart box are 1 5/8" fine pitch drywall screws. I've found the installation to be easier but still more reliable when I Use coarse thread screws, probably because the screws are set at a 45 degree angle, fine thread screws work best when set at a 90 degree angle to the surface.

Pros
  • Great for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Not the best

Great ceiling or wall light for new or old buildings.

Smart boxes are one of the biggest innovations in electrical junction boxes in the last 20 years. Great design, solid construction and easy to use. Tip: Drill cable entries if necessary. Tip: Before installation, insert the screws into the case and tighten to loosen the plastic hole. The best tool for an impact wrench is a long Phillips screwdriver. This version is not for hung fans. Look for the heaviest version for the fans.

Pros
  • Tools and household goods
Cons
  • Big and bulky

Does what it's supposed to do

Simple, easy to use and perfect for my problem. I replaced the light fixture in our bathroom and found that the electrician had not installed the switch box for the light bar (apparently the inside of the light bar doubles as the switch box). Big. There is no switch box to install my new light and keep the wiring tidy. I considered using any number of electrical boxes available at local stores but felt that they were all substandard in one way or another. I found them through a web search. This

Worked great on outlets

I was replacing a hall light and noticed that the original 1975 version of the box was no longer attached to the post. I only had a 5" hole in the wall to work with and had no idea how to attach it without crawling through a small crawl space in the ceiling. I saw this product and decided I had nothing to lose. It worked great. One thing I would like to point out is that prior to installation, be sure to thread the screws back and forth before attaching to the stud. It was very durable and…
