What do I have that's worth an expensive plug? I really do not know it.

Not that it doesn't work or didn't work, I have no idea if it works or not. I got it bundled with Dot and I keep watching it and wondering what to connect to it. To be honest, I have no idea what to put there. I can see well at night and don't need to plug it into a lamp. If I plug it into a TV or computer, I'd still just have to turn them on manually. I'm not going to be a hit, so I really don't know how much this very expensive fork costs. I think that's half the problem, I paid so much for a

Not for those thinking about safety.

Update 02/01/2021: I seem to have made a mistake in my original review. If you change the WiFi name or password, you can reconnect the device without losing all settings. The key is not to select "Reset device" when reconnecting, which I did. It will then go straight to the Wi-Fi setup section without losing names or schedules. However, this isn't mentioned anywhere in the manual (it's just a little map telling you how to use the app). I needed to gather information from users on the Kasa forum

The one to buy if you like local control.

As a software engineer and home automation enthusiast, I rarely find an electronic device that does exactly what I need. When I do, I buy a few without immediately having plans for them because I never know when they will be discontinued and replaced with a newer version that just doesn't work. This Kasa Smart Plug from TP-Link is one such diamond in the rough. After getting one up and running, I bought four more just to have on hand. Decisive factor? Full local control.
