Powerful; Dev Board sure

The board is certainly powerful, but there can be issues with cooling - the processor is down-facing, and the attached heatsink just doesn't cut the mustard under load, making it a little impractical for standard cases. Many Linux distributions were also not loaded correctly on the manufacturer's website when they were purchased. This is definitely a development board that needs some extra "tweaking" to be popular.

Pros
  • Like all so far
Cons
  • Clarity

Powerful; Development board required

The board is certainly powerful, but cooling can be an issue - the CPU faces down and the included heatsink just doesn't cut it under load, making it a little cumbersome for typical cases. Many Linux distributions were also not loaded correctly on the manufacturer's website when they were purchased. This is definitely a development board that needs some extra "tweaking" to be popular.

Pros
  • Class-leading performance - ROCK Pi features a modern and powerful six-core ARM-based RK3399 Soc processor. All models are equipped with 3200Mbps LPDDR4 RAM and optional high-performance eMMC modules.

How Raspberry Should Have Been

This little device replaces my old Raspberry 3, NodeMCU, Zigbee hub and my old NAS in my house. I bought the RockPi along with a tall aluminum case and an NVMe adapter. RockPi serves primarily as my hassle.io server, controls all the Tasmota devices in my house including a ws2812b light bar plugged directly into its I/O, as a Zigbee hub with a USB dongle, and finally as my NAS -Server / uPnP, all in one tiny package. Cube with passive cooling. In my opinion, it surpasses RB in terms of speed…

Pros
  • Multi-Drive eMMC Module - Optional high-performance eMMC module compatible with industrial devices, 16G/32G/64G/128G available, TF card slot supports up to 128G; The M.2 connector supports up to 2T M.2 NVME SSD
Cons
  • Periodicity
