These socks over the shin are really tight, great support, I'm allergic to wool but have had no problems with these warmest socks I've ever had! Exactly what the doctor ordered for cold winters in upstate New York.

These socks are pretty good. However, I was expecting more padding and thickness overall, especially for the price. They might work a little better than my Thorlo, but they're twice the price. My experience is limited to just a full day hike, according to YMMV.

Smartwool makes great socks! They keep your feet and toes warm and let them breathe really well. I was first gifted a pair of Smartwool socks and bought them to use in my waders for wading in cold/icy water. They kept my feet at a reasonable temperature and I am very happy with the purchase!

Bought a medium size as I wear 9 shoes, weigh 160lbs and am 5ft 8in, ankles and calves are normal size. These socks were very tight when I tried to put them on. my hand and my wrist. I've seen this before, tight in the arm and wrist means strangulation in the ankles and calves. Wool? Must have been very cheap wool because it looked like sandpaper. I sent the socks back.

FINALLY! High socks that won't fall or roll up! The cushioning was just right too (not too thick, not too thin). They were very comfortable to wear under cowboy boots all day long. I think I ran about 4-5 miles in it. No blisters, no chafing. Did I mention they don't sleep over the calf all the time? I will buy another pair when the time comes.

These socks are heavy - no doubt about it. Wearing them with a pair of insoles keeps my feet warm enough in boots that aren't insulated. In our part of the country there are very few days when insulated boots are needed, but now it doesn't matter. The elastic in the sock is good - not tight around the calf but it doesn't stretch and never last like many brands of wool socks.
