The quality of the vest itself is satisfactory. The thinner side definitely looks warmer and plumper in photos. I ordered grey, the color I received was a very light light grey, not a dark grey. It's a terrible shade of grey. I keep it for just playing outside and not carrying it to school like I planned. I would not order again.

We bought our son the largest recommended size. Our son is by no means ugly, but he was too small for his age. You seem to be comparing the sizes to kids in Asia and I think the kids there are mostly much smaller than the kids in the US. Be weary with your purchase, I would go up 1 or 2 sizes if that's what you really want. We ended up sending it back as it was too small.

All of a sudden my stepson (8 years old) says he wants a black down vest! I was a little worried about the sizing as it falls in between in most sizes. Size 8 fits him perfectly and allows him to wear a sweatshirt underneath and still close comfortably. The hood is of course also a nice feature for extra warmth. You can just tell when he wears it he feels SUPER cool! That's great. I like the way he looks and he says it keeps him warm. Definitely recommend!
