On my last December hunting trips I use a #20 snow lance. It was way better than the usual aluminum or plastic steaks you get, especially in the Rocky Mountain area, I'm in Arizona. Although one of them broke after hitting Solid Rock, it's still stuck in the ground. All four pegs I use held onto the ground fairly well, although one of them was bent. I was able to straighten it out a bit and the next time I use it it still fits perfectly. I hope.

The pegs are initially heavy. I bought both the #20 and #30 to use in my 8 person Kodiak tent and my 4 person 4 person north facing tent. The primary reason for purchase was to use rates in rock-dominated areas of Utah.
