You get what you pay for

I was reminded once again that you get what you pay for. 10 out of 50 screws (that's a fifth) burst during assembly; some at the base of the head, others somewhere in the middle. I just fixed the main jaw 2x4; I even drilled holes beforehand. One star because they were the cheapest.

    Great value when used correctly

I used these screws to install 5/4x6 treated pine boards. I'm a DIY enthusiast and learn as I go. Two tips: Drilling pilot holes makes life much easier. Pre-drilling more than saves the time you spend removing cracked screws. Secondly, when tightening, you have to push the screw very hard so the bit doesn't break. If you use these two methods, these screws are fine.

These are the worst screws I know.

Approximately 20% of screws deform when using an impact wrench. I drilled 1/4" pilot holes for barrel bolts into 2" x 6" finished #1 deck boards. the heads started to turn. I had to use a vise to remove the bolts because the head was rounded. The shank was so twisted that it was difficult to pull it out. I suspect the screws are made in China from inferior materials. I live on the coast so I used 316 stainless steel because of the corrosive environment. I've since used #10 # .Ordered 16 3"…
