Good cable - be prepared for surprises

The cable is well made and well insulated, each pair is foil wrapped. It's quite thick and doesn't fit standard shielded RJ45 connectors. There are also no striped wires. Pairs consist of solid color and solid white. I ended up using markers to mark the white wires so I could trace them.

Pros
  • Large selection
Cons
  • Don't remember

Amazing cable for the money

This cable is one gauge with 2 connectors. it requires category 7 connectors with 1.45mm wire holes to mate. I've used this for a very long gigabit run in a very (electrically noisy) area and haven't had any issues with it so far. It's very heavy and it was painful to move across the ceiling but it was worth it! I would recommend this reel because its description is exactly what you get. I will be buying more soon!

Pros
  • Glitter
Cons
  • Too long to wait

Thick, durable and well made cable!

Excellent cable, very quick and well assembled. Extremely durable when pulled through walls and ducts and tacked to joists, floorboards etc. This cable is quite thick, so keep that in mind when planning routes. Probably 2-3 times thicker than some of those old Category 5e cables, but since it's shielded it's better suited to running inside an already built house and you have limited options as to where to run your network cable. B. near power lines, gas lines, etc. :).

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Almost everything included

Good shielding

I've used about half a roll so far. Right now I'm only using it for gigabit, but it's running at full speed as I've tested the cable speed with iperf and it's very close to the expected maximum of the cable. The difference between the max and what I got was due to my computer/NIC hardware and driver as another shorter shop had bought 6a cables which were the exact same speed. When it comes to shielding, I have a combined cable tester and cable tracker. I plug one of these two devices into theโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Cables and connections
Cons
  • No automatic

Although I don't have a 10 Gigabit network switch, I wanted to make sure I had the best possible backbone to my router so my network would be secure in the future. I pulled out the Cat6 patch (see photo) and ran this one instead. Each pair of wires is foil shielded and all pairs are wrapped in a ground braid. As with Cat6, each individual wire is 23 AWG, but the insulation in this CAT6A is much thicker, making it almost impossible to connect each wire to a standard pass-through connector. Inโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Cat 6 Cable
Cons
  • New Competitors Arrive

Be prepared for some extra work/expense but very strong connectors

This is a good quality cable, definitely thicker than normal Cat 5e or Cat6 as others have said. I haven't tested the speed at the moment, so I can't answer these questions. My main reason for this review is to let you know which keystone jacks and terminators I used. I used Cable Matters model 180014 shielded keystone connectors and model 180086 shielded plugs. Both connectors are heavy duty connectors but they are much appreciated having tried using plastic Cat 6 connectors (I couldn't findโ€ฆ
