📻 Sony CFDS01 Silver CD Radio Cassette Recorder - The Ultimate Music Companion Review

The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because it has a 3.5mm input in the display which is perfect, to play any MP3 player over it and it doesn't work (only the headphone jack which I use to play cassettes and record to my computer for CD burning; other than that it was delivered quickly and looked and worked absolutely perfect Great.

I bought this wonderful little ghetto blaster in February 2010 and it still works. It still looks, works and sounds just as good as the day it was introduced 7 years ago. There are fewer and fewer CD players, so I would buy the same model again today if new ones were available. Fortunately, similar Sony models are still available at a reasonable price, so I'll keep one of these as a spare if the trusty old one ever lets me down. However, I have a feeling that this one will probably outlive me…

I'm disappointed in the feel which is very cheap. We paid about fifty dollars for it last January; it was too much then, and I notice it's up to eighty now, which of course isn't value for money. The CD function was ok (hence three stars) but the cassette player is unreliable and the door closes so I have to open it to remove or insert a cassette. I bought a refurbished Sony CFDS01 cassette player from a reputable retailer, Revain, and it was almost a total failure. I tested it on battery power first and it worked, but after a few weeks (during which time I ran it on AC power) the unused batteries were completely drained, presumably due to a short in the device. . This is an ordinary ghetto blaster with radio that I bought it for. I mainly use it for burning cassette tapes to a wav file for burning to CD. I only use it for audio. My real complaint about this and the reason I give it 3 stars is that the controls are VERY difficult to read. The instructions should always be at hand. Sony should have painted the controls in contrasting colors instead of making them all gray with raised icons that are also grey. They are generally unreadable when you look at
