Sony DVP-NS70H DVD Player with HDMI Upsampling

I have compared the DVP-NS70H (with HDMI cable and upsampling to 720p) to the Sony DVP-NS575P DVD Player (with component video cable and 480p) with a LCD tested TV Sony Bravia KDL-V40XBR1 to study the results. A good quality DVD movie will have brighter colors and less noise with the DVP-NS70H than with the DVP-NS575P. Near HD upconversion is AWESOME!

I have five DVD players and my Sony DVPNS70H is by far my favourite. To be honest, all other DVD players are progressive scan only, so their picture quality is average at best. My Sony connected via an HMDI cable gives one of the best pictures I've ever seen from a DVD. Not what I was hoping for.

I had really high hopes for him. But unfortunately I'm having the exact same video problem that others have reported. There is a 1 inch tape at the top of the picture and a ½ inch tape at the bottom. This happens every time I use HDMI and run at 720p or 1080i. This is definitely not the fault of my Panasonic 42" Plasma as it is not the case when receiving converted 1080i signals from my HD TIVO.
