Review on Sony DVP-NS70H HDMI DVD Player, Single Disc by Ray Mcknight

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Near HD upconversion is AWESOME!

I have five DVD players and my Sony DVPNS70H is by far my favourite. To be honest, all other DVD players are progressive scan only, so their picture quality is average at best. My Sony connected via an HMDI cable gives one of the best pictures I've ever seen from a DVD. As this is now the only player we will be monitoring, the rest of the progressive scan players are lying around collecting dust. Another thing I like about Sony is their reliability. It was never able to play a DVD while my other players said something like "incompatible version" about 20% of the time. I've heard other complaints about black bars (widescreen vs. fullscreen). ) and other functional problems. Can't comment on that as I bought a new widescreen LCD at the same time. Between the two, the Sony DVD player and HDTV will communicate with each other and display the best picture. I've tried playing around with these features, but since both components are by default the best combination, I've never managed to improve them. included. I totally agree. Then in a few years I'll just buy new HD DVDs or BluRay discs and play them on a new player. Still, I'll probably ditch the faithful Sony with its great picture to play my existing DVD collection.
