upset. The prime lens is not as good as the Sony zoom.

I was disappointed with this lens. Sharpness, clarity and contrast are nowhere near as good as the Sony 16-35mm zoom lens. The only reason to buy a prime lens is for better image quality than when using the zoom. Sony really needs to update this lens as it's the only ultra wide prime lens in its lineup, alongside the 16mm fisheye.

Save money by buying DSLR lenses

It's not as sharp as I expected. I'm spoiled I guess. All my lenses are ZEISS or Minolta/Sony G-series I have two lenses that are not ZEISS or G-series Sony 16mm distorts the way I want it. This is my least favorite lens for quality, sharpness and vignetting. Feels good outdoors in bright sunlight. Not very good in low light. I prefer my 16-35 ZEISS. But I will keep this lens, so I can say that I have all the lenses of every focal length.

Sony Wide Angle Lens

I recently purchased a Sony SAL-20F28 wide angle lens for my Sony A55 camera. I asked Revain to ship the lens straight to my hotel room as I was on vacation. As soon as I unpacked it, I knew I would be very satisfied. Structure, look and feel are excellent. Then I went outside with a lens and took some test shots. Viewing them on my computer in my hotel room, I was very impressed with the clarity and sharpness of the images.

Ideal wide angle lens for Alpha full frame models

I use this lens on the Alpha 850 and it's perfect for indoor and outdoor architecture and landscapes. I should have bought this lens, not the Sony 16mm fisheye. 16mm is fun, but the distortion is only good for certain scenes, and Photoshop's distortion correction has its limitations. The 20mm focuses very quickly and sharply from f5.6. I mostly use a 24-70mm Zeiss, but the extra 4mm is really worth it for changing lenses if you can't go back far enough.

not sharp.: Lenses

Shit, I buy a prime lens (and I really like them and there are dozens of them), you expect to trade the flexibility of the zoom for the sharpness and lack of aberrations this type of lens. This is not the case with this lens. I've tried everything to convince myself that I'm using it wrong and that it can't be that bad, but it is. Unfortunately, not only is it less sharp than all of my other primes (some of which are worth 1/3 its price). It's also less sharp than all my zooms. Also, it's veryโ€ฆ

Same quality as Minolta AF 20mm RS2.8 lens

This lens is exactly the same as the Konica Minolta Autofocus 20mm f/2.8 lens for Maxxum SLRs which is a great lens. sharper at f4 and great at f5.6-f11. To get a sharper image with this lens, you can use the "front focus trick". If you have a full-frame A-mount camera, this lens is a must. The light falloff is noticeable wide open, but almost disappears at f/4. . Coma doesn't work well at f/2.8 but looks better at f/4. This lens has a fairly steep new price of $748 from most reputableโ€ฆ
