A big improvement over the XB-41

This speaker is bigger and much heavier than the 41, but it really doesn't matter. Bluetooth is great and easily plays music from two devices without having to manually switch. Live mode has improved a lot and overall you can hear mjch's voice clearer than 41. The charging speed is much faster so overall very happy with this speaker.

Pros
  • All-day battery life, up to 24 hours of battery life
Cons
  • Runtime speed

XB33 is not loud enough (Sony, please post your specs)

The sound quality of this speaker is good , flashing lights are nice touch. However, it's not nearly loud enough for my purpose. At full volume with my phone set to maximum, the speaker just fills the 12x10 interior. As it is intended to be used in PWC where it needs to overcome engine noise I'm not sure it will be loud enough. I suspected this would happen when Sony refused to discuss specs like SPL or performance and compare them to the competition. Unfortunately I have waited over a week for

Pros
  • Efficient charging with USB Type-C and using XB33 to charge your smartphone or other small devices via a USB connection
Cons
  • Not trendy

Great sound, easy button pairing but no extra input

I'm pretty picky about my Bluetooth speakers and usually prefer Anker products, but when I... When I saw Wirecutter, I rated the Sony SRS-XB33 speaker so highly that I decided to give it a try. Long story short, I was so impressed with the first speaker I bought that I bought a second one to put it in "party mode". and use two at the same time. The sound is excellent: full, rich, with decent bass for such a small device. The software app is pretty crude and has the frustrating limitation of not

Pros
  • Get it right with Party Connect and sync up to 100 speakers
Cons
  • Security

I liked my first XB43 so much that I bought a second one!

Decided to try the XB43. Man I wasn't disappointed. It has good sound quality, great bass (even my friends praised the bass for a portable speaker), and amazing battery life. A plus. The lighting effects are very cool. I also saw a built in party mode and stereo speaker options (had no idea when I first bought it). Well, I decided to bite the bullet and get another one. Not disappointed. general. I set both up in stereo speaker mode. And together they really create a stereo feel - better thanโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Portable Audio & Video
Cons
  • Slightly crumpled

The XB43 is great, but better than the XB33? Up to what you want.

First, I ordered an XB43 exclusively for the upcoming trip. I originally wanted to buy the JBL Charge series for portability but stumbled upon the XB33 which led me to this beast. I took a chance and pre-ordered it instead of going with JBL (always didn't find the sound of their gear what I was looking for). I have to say this is exactly what I wanted - a solid, tight bass and EQ mix control to help bring out whatever style of music you might be into (I play mostly rock and EDM, my wife lovesโ€ฆ

SRS-XB33 vs. Charge 4 (plus some cheaper models)

So I've been looking for my all-in-one BT speaker for a while without spending too much and of the ones I've had, the Sony SRS-XB33 is the clear winner. Scroll down for a direct Sony speaker review. I used to have an Oontz Angle 3 Ultra and briefly a Tribit Maxsound Plus and a JBL Charge 4. I still have the Oontz speakers (two in a pair of stereos) and they are excellent value for money, especially as a pair of stereos . For me, this would be a clear winner for less than $100 (for both!)โ€ฆ

Pros
  • Portable speakers and docking stations
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than other options
