Soot Eraser Sponge Case 12 Review

Our house was in a forest fire and suffered from smoke. I couldn't believe how much grime was on the walls and how easily this product removed it by simply wiping the surface. I cut off the outer dirty layer to get more use out of a sponge. This is the first step in removing smoke and dirt from the walls and then proceeding with the cleaning. If it just could be that easy!

After a fire in one of my rentals I decided to fix the smoke damage myself instead of going to a damage repair company. The product worked great, was easy to use and worked exactly as promised by the company's marketing. I have saved thousands of dollars on repairs and based on past and current experience I believe I did a much better job than if I had used the services of any of the fire restoration companies.

These sponges showed no noticeable reduction in smoke or dirt on a range of surfaces (I had a big fire in my shop!) and with different cleaning agents! What I found was that Mr. Clean's "Magic Erasers" ("super strong") work in combination with "PRORESTORE Unsmoke Wall Wash". Erasers Clean sprinkles on rough surfaces (or anything with holes), but their lifespan will be extended if the sponge is pre-moistened (DO NOT use dry!).

They work SO well. We had stains all over the walls due to an issue with our fireplace and these were the only things that would help remove them. As a precaution, just know that you should use them FIRST before trying any other products. If you use a degreaser (which will probably help a little and soil your wall with soot) and then try to use it, they won't work. They should be right on top of the dirt and THEN you can do extra cleaning if needed.

Fat caught fire in my kitchen. They cleaned the ceiling and the sooty walls with little effort. Soot washed off in one fell swoop. I was also able to easily cut them in half with a blade, which I recommend for getting the most out of one. A sponge cleaned 1/3 of my 12x12 kitchen ceiling. Also good for dirt and other debris on walls as I took one to work to test its durability. I work in a vet clinic and managed to remove a lot of invisible dirt from the walls.
