The perfect hammer for the electrician. I use this for display, trim and cable management. An extremely useful and correct weight for everyday work with electricity.
The long snout was very useful, the ability to flush drive in concrete anchors without banging your knuckles on a nearby surface is very useful. It's well balanced, not as heavy as you think and packs a lot of power at 18 ounces.
Most hammers are 16 oz, this one is 18. Although not advertised as insulated, the handle is fiberglass so you don't have to worry about the line. The hammer claw is ideal for staples that electricians commonly work with. It is very durable and very well built.
Overall a great hammer. The claw is great for grabbing staples over Romex. The only thing that kept it from getting 5 stars is that it's awkward to use at first when you're used to regular hammers with shorter heads. I understand the purpose of the extended face, but it was very different from what I'm used to, so it's not really the hammer's fault. This way you can really hammer staples into studs without breaking your fingers and get those hammered staples out from your fellow electricians…
Haven't used this item in production yet so this is just a preview but holding this hammer feels like Excalibur compared to my usual crap with wooden handle, the weight is almost entirely at the head end with the fiberglass handle and the handle is a BIT larger for me but I have small hands for a builder type. Of course I'm into fencing now, I'm not an electrician as stated but I do my fair share of swinging and it's a lot of fun. If you care about framing you can deviate from that as the face…
In the past month I ransacked two houses with a hammer. This is where the "electrician's hammer" should shine. However, I've already given it up in favor of a simpler 16oz hammer and am much happier. Perhaps the most important feature of the hammer is the staple remover. At best, it works "well". Staples that are firmly driven into Romex will not be removed. It can be difficult to get it under the clamp without damaging the wire's outer coating. It's nice when it works, but since it doesn't…
This hammer has excellent balance and just enough weight to get the job done without feeling too heavy. It only takes a few good hits to hammer in the electro-clips, while my previous hammer (which was lighter) easily took twice as many hits. All in all a good deal for its price.
