Worked best in Circuit Testers

Moving to a rented house with a creative arrangement. I don't know what worked and what didn't. I put colored plugs in the coax connectors and checked all 9 connections in 5 minutes. 4 active, 3 inactive and 2 active but not very well. Exactly what I needed to know.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

and that's great. Can't give full 5 stars because

I've been using the gel for a few weeks now and it's great. Can't give the full 5 stars as one of the tracer's caps fell apart on the first day and I had to dab blue Loctite on it. But that aside, it's invaluable for those homes/businesses that seem to have endless coax cables going everywhere.

Pros
  • practical item
Cons
  • a bit torn

This is work! Best in Electrical

It worked, I assumed it would also produce an audio sound, although it doesn't, just a visual one which is still fine. You may get bad and wrong readings, but this is NOT related to the product. If you're passing splitters or there's equipment on the line, you might get inaccurate readings, and that makes sense. This is for the "continuity" that this material naturally provides.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes

The best mapper I've ever used and the batteries are replaceable.

I bought a small tester a few years ago and wasn't happy with it. This one from Southwire is a big improvement. The test button is now larger and much easier to press. The colored finials are snap fit and non-screw type, making them very easy to fit and remove from wall panels. Perhaps most importantly, unlike Klein and most other testers, the batteries are INTERCHANGEABLE. A very good unit.

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • Poorly thought out

Now you can easily find out where all your coax jacks end up!

I've moved into a house that has wires everywhere and outlets everywhere thanks to several different satellite systems over the years. With this device, it was easy and efficient to identify outlets and match them to the wire in the basement where they all end. You can put all 4 plugs into 4 different sockets at the same time. Then connect the device to different cables and if you match any of them, it will light up in the corresponding color of the plug used. That means 4 times less stairs up…

Love it! Essential for DIY assembly

If like us you've had an electrician you'll love this for figuring out wire connections. Very easy to use and works great. Also helps to locate faulty cable connections. If you have digital terrestrial TV and are having signal issues, it may be because you have bad cable connections. If your wire is badly grounded or you have a bad connection, you won't get a strong signal. I wish I had had this years ago after our electrician left our new home with no labels on the wires in the cord. 2 wires…

Pros
  • Easy install
Cons
  • Hard to tell

best coax mapper, hands down.

This is the best cartographer I've ever had. I tried them all and found that I was buying more cartographers each year. The most popular was the plain Jonard for $20*. The problem with this junk is that the battery doesn't last a year and you just end up buying a new one because it wasn't made replaceable. This mapper is the answer to that piece of shit. It feels the same with an almost velvety touch and a soft button, unlike the Jonard which needs to be pressed very hard and the button hurts…

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • Lots of stuff

Easy to use and works great!

My house was connected to 3 different coax groups (satellite, cable, CCTV) but not very well marked. This tool made it easy to keep track of which wires were connected to which outlets on the basement electrical panel, and particularly to keep track of which of the multiple wires went where in the junction box in front of the house. Connectors you want to trace, then go to the other end of the cable and connect each cable until a green light comes on next to one of the colored dots and you have

Pros
  • Great for me

  • Not as thick as other picks
