Fits 95 Wrangler 4.0

Worked great came with everything you need to replace. Before removing, set to top dead center and install in reverse order.

Fixed my P1391. 1997 Jeep Wrangler 4.0

I just replaced the distributor in my 1997 Jeep Wrangler 4.0. A mounting gasket was included. I didn't follow the instructions with recommended OT search. Simply mark the old cap and rotor BEFORE removing them. It rotates counterclockwise when removed, so be sure to mark that spot as well. Hope my Check Engine Light goes out for a while.

Pros
  • Excellent Design
Cons
  • I vaguely remember

Gearbox installed backwards

As other reviewers have said, the gearbox is rotated 180 degrees. I sent back the first one I ordered hoping the second one was correct but it was also wrong. I hit twice, pulled out the locking pin and flipped the gear over. Only then could I align it to top dead center, which I couldn't do before. The plastic feels cheap and falls out easily unlike the original I pulled out.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Quality

Drive 180 is here!

Be careful and insert it correctly, mine looked like it was a tooth next to it and could NOT align it with the mark I made where the old one was. MAKE SURE this is the position you took the old one out. IF NOT, your time is up. MY! The drive gear on the bottom of the shaft was rotated 180 degrees, I had to remove the roll pin and rotate the gear 180, rotate the gear 180, put the pin back in place. THEN the rotor lined up exactly where it should be.

Pros
  • Absolute Legend
Cons
  • Was damaged

Fits well and works great

Perfect fit for my 97 TJ 4.0. The jeep started for the first time. The build quality is excellent. The last distributor I had was a standard quality rebuilder (from Autozone). The block has been repainted and covers part of the shaft. This resulted in it not being able to fit easily into the mounting hole. The Richporter device does not have such problems. The main thing to note - the packaging is excellent. The assembly includes a seal, a distributor cap, and a rotor. You don't have to buy…

Pros
  • Solid build
Cons
  • Hard to tell

The internals are cheaply made, otherwise it seems good enough to be ok.

No bottom seal! I don't understand why the 2 cent piece is so difficult to include. The rotor tip just fell off somewhere in the distributor. It looked used when I finally found it inside, with a charred tip like someone returned it. However, the lid was unused and appeared to be in good condition. The wires don't go through the grommet at the edge of the socket, they sit up top where the edge of the socket can press against them and wear away the insulation which is already showing signs of…

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Quick guide
