Hassle free exact replacement 1999 LX 470

Replaced a leaking original 20 year old radiator with an LX 470 with minimal problems. You can simply remove the old block and put in a new radiator. Instructions with photos are also available on the Lexus Owners Forum.

Pros
  • Quick change
Cons
  • No mold required

Replaced a failed Denso with a 100 series

I bought this for my 100 series Lexus LX470 to replace a Denso unit that had failed in less than 18 months. After this experience and reading about quality control issues with Denso equipment, I was determined to find a better alternative. After reading the forums I decided to install. It is also noted that this block offers the best solution for cooling the gear oil. I was sold with a warranty and 2x pressure test guarantee. 5,000 km and no problems.

I chose this cooler for my 1999 Lexus LX470 instead of the Denso unit due to 2 years. the warranty and a little research shows that the 'built in' transcooler 'could be better'. In any case, it was an EXACT mold waste. Almost identical to the regular cooler I took out. Both Denso and Spectra are made in China (per specification). I don't have a Denso to review but I can tell you the Spectra looks well made with quality materials (not Chinese). ;) Time will tell if I made the right decision, but
