Description of Speedball 4578 Diazo Photo Sensitizer

ACTIVATES SPEEDBALL DIAZO PHOTO EMULSION - Speedball’s Diazo Photo Emulsion is a 2-step process where the photo emulsion needs to be “activated.” To activate, the photo emulsion, sensitizer needs to be added. The sensitizer is a very thick oil and needs water to create the right consistency for adding it to the photo emulsion. (The sensitizer bottle will feel unfilled, but don’t worry it is not empty!). CREATE HIGHLY DETAILED IMAGES - Allows artists to create detailed or photographic type stencils for screen printing. NO DARK ROOM NEEDED - Get professional-grade results without the need for expensive equipment and darkrooms. Emulsion can be mixed and applied under normal light conditions. Must keep in a dark place until time for exposure. USE WITH ANY WATER-BASED OR SOLVENT-BASE SCREEN PRINTING INK - For use with polyester screen fabrics, Speedball’s Diazo Photo Emulsion & Sensitizer may be used with any water-based or solvent-based ink. EASILY REMOVES WHEN FINISHED - Can be easily removed from screen with Speedball Diazo Photo Emulsion Remove to reclaim screen for another use.

Terrible handling of goods.

The bottle was already open on arrival and exposed to water which made the product badly damaged/unusable. Diazo should be mixed with the emulsion within 1 hour of contact with water. Very disappointed.

Works great, but don't be an idiot and forget to add .

Works great but don't be an idiot and forget to add water! I've used this before and it was great. I was in a hurry and I completely forgot. Wasted that bottle and my feelings! Pay attention! I was in too much of a hurry.

does not work if expired

This product would probably have been effective if it had not expired. (Speedball claims a shelf life of two years from the date of manufacture) After mixing it with the emulsion, applying it and drying it on screen, and following the directions for the correct exposure time, the emulsion washed off further with almost a touch of water.

Cons
  • Large and Bulky

It seems REALLY empty, but there's definitely a swamp there.

It looks REALLY empty, but it definitely has something like swamp mud in it, and you mix it with water. I bought it to mix with white glue for my screens. There is very little information on the web about the sensitizer to adhesive ratio, but I use a bottle of this sensitizer for 26.4 ounces of white adhesive and it works great.

Pros
  • Arts and Crafts Supplies
Cons
  • I don't remember, but there was something in there

Worst experience of my life

What you are about to read may shock you. This product and the Speedball team completely ruined TWO nights of mine. This package arrived a week ago and to my horror the bottle was completely empty. That's pretty strange I thought, it must have been an accident with one of those cars. Oh how naive I was. If you fool me once you'll be ashamed, but if you fool me twice you'll look like the biggest idiot who ever tried screenprinting as a hobby. If only I could go back and warn myself of what was…

Pros
  • Crafts and sewing
Cons
  • Slightly torn
