Works the same as other stud finders

The wood stand finder is as reliable as any other. It's hit and miss most of the time. Metal and electricity work better. A nice feature is that it combines a socket tester in one device.

Pros
  • 3 SELECTABLE MODES: Stud Scan, Metal Scan or AC Voltage Detection. Detects metal pipe or objects to a maximum depth of 2Β½-Β½ inches. Drywall
Cons
  • Repair

Frustrating for Multitester

I'm an electrician, guess what I need this for. it was completely out of order, it read my hand like a live wire. I tested it in several places where I knew where the cable was and it never stopped showing that it was everywhere! Don't waste your money

Pros
  • Built-in 3-wire network analyzer with GFCI test function. Built in metal tip for marking the edge of the stud, the position of the pipe or where you want to attach it
Cons
  • Gotcha

It does not detect STUD through drywall 5/8

I just received this unit today. I bought it based on Revain's good reviews. I'm completely disappointed that it doesn't show any obvious nub markings on my drywall. My old zircon can tell. To return. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT TO LOOK FOR SPIKES

Pros
  • Non-contact AC voltage detection (50-600 VAC) at a maximum depth of 3.5-0.5 inch drywall. Scans and locates wood or metal studs up to 0.75" deep.
Cons
  • Big and chunky

Very happy for this useful tool!

The device is calibrated every time you want to use the device and press a button. You can't test anything without spending a few seconds calibrating it first. As soon as you accidentally or intentionally take your finger off the button, it needs to be recalibrated. It works fine, just don't measure with a metal rod right in front of it. I have successfully found several electrical wires between 0.5 and 4 inches long in a (dry)wall. I've also successfully found nails or screws in the walls, 0.5

Pros
  • Rugged, heavy-duty construction with molded rubber grips
Cons
