Not stainless steel as advertised

I spent the extra money to buy a stainless steel spiked collar and got a chrome plated collar. The description clearly states that it is stainless steel. I saw mixed reviews about it and thought it must be a mistake. Very disappointed I spent $30 and got the collar for only $20 at best.

Pros
  • Sleek design
Cons
  • Expensive

Mandatory for white dog

This collar turned my large pulling dog into a large lurching dog in one session. I bought the chrome first but it made my large white dog's neck look dark. This stainless steel collar still darkens my white poodle's neck, but not as much as the chrome collar. I wish I could find one that doesn't ring around its collar.

Pros
  • Heavy duty finish
Cons
  • Can't remember

This is not a full stainless steel product as advertised.

I ordered a stainless steel collar as it doesn't leave a grey/black mark on my dog's coat like chrome collars. The chain that connects the collar to the nape is chrome plated which makes my dog's coat look dirty. It's no good when on shows. I would like a stainless steel collar if available as I thought I would buy that.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • The list will be long.

Very disappointed with collars, harnesses and leashes

I paid a higher price for a quality Herm Sprenger stainless steel collar that will last a long time and will not rust. These collars have historically lasted many years so I was very disappointed that this collar rusted from the very first walk and soiled my dog's coat every time she put it on. Not at all satisfied with the lack of quality. Now I'm wondering if this Herm Sprenger has gone downhill in quality, or has someone sold me a chrome plated one for the price of stainless steel?

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Buyer warning! NOT stainless steel.

Revain catalog lists stainless steel. It is clearly not stainless steel as stated on the product label. The Revain label says "stainless steel" but the product label says "chrome plated steel" - a BIG difference. I have another Herm Sprenger stainless steel collar and wanted another one for my new puppy. This is clearly misleading and of much lower quality. The price of the chrome model is MUCH lower, so I even consider it a scam making customers pay for something it isn't. I have reorderedโ€ฆ

Pros

Cons
  • Available in black only

The only spiked collar you can buy

The only spiked collar I will ever buy. Never rust and always respond well to repair. I bought the smaller mm to use with my large breed dog because I like the correction more than the larger teeth. Also, they are easier to put on and take off as the mm metal makes them a bit more flexible for my weak fingers. I use it in a collar that serves to hold the needles and hide them from the eyes of passers-by. I don't want people to think my dog is necessarily aggressive or question me for using anโ€ฆ

Excellent quality Recommended

Herm Sprenger 2.25mm stainless steel collar. All devices are marked inox. In general, he seems strong. Has dead ring, swivel ring and center plate. The teeth are smooth and rounded so they don't damage the dog's skin. Smaller links found work better on short-haired dogs, regardless of the size of the dog's neck. It is less bulky on the dog's neck and stays in place better. I used to use 3.0mm plugs on my dogs and now that I've bought 2.25mm plugs they fit much better. Links may be removed orโ€ฆ

Great training collar

When I bought this collar it was listed as stainless steel. When I received it the tag on the collar said it was chrome steel. I noticed that several other comments complained about the same issue. A few weeks after my first review which added 1 star to the others, the company changed the listing again to a chrome steel collar. In any case, Herm Sprenger has always made quality products. This is a good training collar and with proper fit and use it will solve pull, jump and fallout problems inโ€ฆ

This collar is a dream.

If you have a dog that pulls regardless of training, this collar is for you. I love my dog with all my heart and soul but her nose will overwhelm her. She's half beagle, half raccoon, so her nose should be searching for things. This leads to her not knowing what to sniff next, and that's why she likes to sniff around like crazy on everything. I have read countless articles and watched many videos about dogs like mine. All suggested a notched collar to solve the tension problem. I'm not jokingโ€ฆ
