No longer made in the USA but the price stays the same? Someone makes a profit. I've been buying these filters for years and every time I get them they look new and the packaging changes. Makes me doubt the quality.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Non-Automatic

With two people in the house taking a shower.

If two people in the house shower 7-10 minutes a day, this filter will only remove chloramines for 1 week, tested with a chlorine/chloramine test solution (I'm a water quality specialist). Either they have to make this filter bigger or cut the price in half. Again this test after a week of use!

Lasts 4 months in a family of 2 in Idaho

The name says it all for this once in a lifetime experience. It works well for what is advertised but will NOT last a year. Water chemistry varies by region and city, water flow settings can be limited or increased (depending on the shower head), household size varies - all factors greatly affect the lifespan of this filter. But a good filter.

Pros
  • Looking forward to it
Cons
  • Good but not great

Sanitary Shower Filter

A good shower filter that you can change monthly and monitor the color to see if it needs changing. The filter itself is sturdy and be sure to lubricate each end with petroleum jelly when inserting it into the filter housing to ensure a tight, watertight fit. The filter DOES NOT include a new rubber o-ring which is a major flaw for this filter. The O-ring needs to be included because the price is too high. At some point you will need a new O-ring, why not include one?

Pros
  • Heavy Duty Construction
Cons
  • So-so

The filter is ok, but a manufacturing defect can pop out. Keep an eye on the presence of sand in the bath and replace it immediately. About 6 months later, before I could replace it, the filter burst. As a result, many grains of sand kept getting into my bathtub. Not sure how to get them out of the sewer, probably difficult or expensive to hire someone to do it. Otherwise a decent filter for my area where the water is really good so it doesn't get heavy ion loading. .

Cons
  • Nothing here

They will not work with chloramines which register as chlorine. If your city or county uses chloramines, don't buy them. Pure chlorine is sufficient. I bought them and installed them. I've run water through each one for over an hour and they still contain a lot of chlorine. Higher than the pool. They obviously don't work. I don't know if this is fake or what. I know I tested PUR filtered kitchen water and there was no trace of chlorine in it. Stay away from them. My latest sprite filters worked

Maintenance interval one year as stated

We get about one year of their service life as stated. It is installed in series on the hot water side of a bath and uses 40 to 50 gallons per bath. The lady takes a bath about every other day and expects about 9,000 gallons a year. We know it's time for a replacement when the flow slows. Even if the media is black, it's time to replace it. (Although the product image shows an opaque cap, in reality you can see the KDF media either through the inspection slot in the packaging or through the…

It's very worth it!

It really means a lot to me. My skin and hair look much softer and I don't get irritated by chlorinated water. I just ordered a replacement and received it yesterday (1/22/15). I installed the previous one about 9 months ago. I noticed that my skin was becoming irritated and dry again. Got a replacement, installed it, and that's how it went "day and night". From reading the instructions, I saw that it says to turn the filter every 30 days (about once a month) to get optimal flow. I forgot to do
