but the pigment is amazing. I don't paint like that

My pastels arrived intact and very well packaged. Inside the box was a case with foam pads (see photo). These pastels are very small but the pigment is amazing. I don't paint with them; I actually use them to decorate a chalkboard each week to keep track of my pregnancy (see pic). You'll be great for this because regular chalk only comes in a few boring colors. I also have Pro Art Chalk Pastels which I've been using for a few weeks now and really like. Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model

Great starter set and great price!

Just received today. I drew them on black paper and partly painted them on white watercolor paper (Fabriano Studio, 25% cotton, 140 lbs, cold pressed - student quality). I post a photo of the partial painting. I have a few Pan pastels which I love and a large selection of Prismacolors Nupastels which are considered hard pastels. Pros
  • Inspires confidence
Cons
  • Not in fashion

If you're just starting out with pastels and are trying to save money, forget it. They are NOT an economical alternative. Too small, too hard and too many bright colors. Not even remotely artistic quality as some reviews claim. I didn't expect them to be like this given the price but too many reviews give them high marks for quality without mentioning the downsides. They are so small that they would be difficult to use under normal conditions. hand size. Seriously, they're 1 inch long (2.7 cm),

Pros
  • Delivery was very fast
Cons
  • Crumpled
