SRAM's Guide Rigid Arm Lock

Wow! My directional brakes work like new again. A little tricky to install but worth it. My brakes have frozen in hot weather. I took them apart and found that the inner plastic piston was expanding and sticking to the arm cylinder. This kit solves the problem.

Fixed Gen 1 sticky piston.

Works. Fixed Gen 1 piston sticking issue on my 2016 DB5 model brakes. Still works after months and months of driving. You'll need the right tools, especially long (3+ inch) thin-tipped pliers and good lighting to see what the heck you're doing.

Also works for Guide RS.

This kit also fits Guide RS brake levers. Fixed my sticky brake lever issue. The old piston was very tight in the lever hole, it took some effort to push it out. It seems I'm having trouble with the seals as they were swollen and deteriorating. Lots of black deposits in the bore and on the piston.

Fix a Stuck SRAM Lever!

Contains parts needed to repair a stuck SRAM lever. The problem is the plastic piston. We'll see how long the new one lasts. If it fails again I'll try replacing it with aluminum. My kit was missing the little rubber bushings on the screw holding the lever pin, but I just reused mine.

DB5 lever stuck!

Turned out to be a little deeper than I expected but I was able to do something my local bike shop couldn't even diagnose and it took less than 2 hours with most of the tools necessary. Make sure you know what tools you need before you start this repair! I was missing the tiny torx bit and my locking ring tool barely fit in the cylinder.

Needed 2 kits to replace both pistons in my brakes Guide R

The piston (white item in the picture) had a documented poor first run. They tended to swell and get stuck in the brake housing. My two refused, but not at the same time. Replacement isn't too difficult, except that you can't remove the snap ring with the specially purchased snap ring pliers since the snap ring is internal to the brake housing. curved pick tool and put back the replacement part from the kit as the original got a bit damaged when removing it. You'll also need a bleed kit, whichโ€ฆ
