SRAM Trigger Shifter Speed Drivetrains Review

I temporarily installed this on my single speed bike for a longer very hilly ride and it will probably stay there forever. I've paired it with an X.5 9 speed derailleur and they work very well together, as does my "tall" mountain bike. Shifting is precise and reliable, and I prefer the Sram Shimano. Very inexpensive and fun. It reminded me why we even have switches.

This is an original SRAM 1:1 9-speed rear derailleur. It worked great with my SRAM X5 long cage derailleur. Don't try to use a Shimano derailleur on SRAM derailleurs - the ratio of shifter movement to derailleur movement is not the same. Most Shimano have a gear ratio of 2:1. SRAM X5 1:1. Some SRAMs have a different ratio as well. So check the SRAM website to see what model of SRAM you have to find out the ratio, then select a compatible switch.

I installed this shifter with a new shifter on my bike. The switch was easy and hassle free to install. After initial setup and adjustment the bike shifted well, sometimes the cable would not let go initially and I thought it might take some time to break in, shifting improved over time. I've ridden this switch twice with no problems, maybe only about 25 miles. On my third ride this switch broke and stopped working after about 10 miles. I couldn't pull the cable in anymore.
