They've stuck with me and I like the assortment of the set.

8B wasn't bad at best, but these pencils felt very hard and almost "waxy" compared to their graphite counterparts. For comparison I have the Faber Castell 9000 pencil sets, the regular Staedtler Mars Lumograph and the Tombow Mono pencil sets. I've also tried them on sketch paper. I really like using regular Mars Lumograph graphite pencils, but they don't look like it at all. After anxiously awaiting them, I was actually disappointed with their performance and will be looking at other charcoal…

Pros
  • Stable test results

  • There are other interesting options.

Not as advertised

I already had all 24 grades of Mars Lumograph, plus Mars Lumograph Black 4 grades. Naturally, when I saw this set containing 2 more classes of Black Mars Lumograph, I immediately excitedly ordered one. However, what I got totally disappointed me. The set I received was 6 pencils of the same 4 grades I already had, not the 6 grades listed here. The design on the front of the glass only showed 4 varieties and didn't even match the one pictured here, which also suggests 6 different varieties. (The

Great dark matte finish. 7B and HB are clearly not available.

very dark result, especially in softer tones. It's worth noting that the 7B and HB pencils seem to be no longer available. I received a set of six with 1 8B, 1 6B, 2 4B and 2 2B. Only available grades 2B, 4B, 6B and 8B are listed in the accompanying Staedtler literature. After initial disappointment after using these pens for a short time, I understand why Staedtler optimized this line. 2B, now the stiffest of the set, while having a fairly dark output, actually has some shine when pressed hard

Pros
  • Starter paint set to create a wide range of shadows and tones, from the deepest, darkest blacks to medium grays
Cons
  • Slightly different

Nice! Best Products for Drawing, Painting and Art Supplies

I really don't understand what the negative reviews are about volume . The reviewers seem to understand art and art materials. I can only surmise that due to a packaging error they may have something wrong or different. These will not be charcoal pencils. Or conte. It's more of a mixture of carbon and graphite. But they don't have the luster of a pencil and are much blacker, which doesn't necessarily mean they're darker. Basically, graphite is gray and no matter how low the value goes, it will…

and the best thing is that these pens are with matte.

I just received these pencils; I haven't been able to use them in my drawing yet, but I've compared them to the previous (pre-2016) Lumograph 100 and Kimberly 9XXB on a smooth Bristol board. I will update the review when I have more experience with these pens. These pens are darker than the 100s. I would say 100B 2B = 100 4B, 100B 4B = 100 6B, 100B 6B = 100 7B and 100B 8B is slightly darker than 100 8B. The biggest and best difference is that these pencils are matte, not graphite gloss! The old
