Hole, I don't think so.

The included hole punch is useless at best, a cheap flimsy can that collapses in your hand if you squeeze it, that was on the one piece of paper I tested previously. I think the beer can is metal.

Pros
  • Sewing Tools & Supplies
Cons
  • Frequency

Unsuitable punches: Fasteners

All parts were fine except the punch that came with both sets which had a hole punched about 4mm but the box it came in said 6mm so if the material will stretch enough to get the post through that's fine but if it's a rib the hole will need to be reamed.

Pros
  • Arts, Crafts and Sewing
Cons
  • Unfashionable

VERY hard wearing: fasteners

I used them on a Chicom reproduction machine for a print I was working on. They are significantly better than the snaps I've used from Walmart before, I think it was the "Dritz" brand or something similar. In fact, it was quite difficult to get them. I had to hit the ram VERY hard with a hammer for a while to get the latches right so they definitely wouldn't come loose once in place.

Pros
  • Sewing supplies and accessories
Cons
  • There are new competitors

You get what you pay for.

Let me start by saying that I've used snaps before. I'm not new to installing latches. There are three problems with them. The first two types belong together. The waves on the lids and backs are too soft and wrinkle rather than stretch. The flare tool is irregularly shaped so it actually flattens the shaft instead of expanding it. I found it worked a little better when I first used a swipe to launch a small expansion, then the flare tool worked better. But even then, the shafts mostly broke…

Pros
  • Snaps
Cons
  • Crumpled Packaging
