1) Do not put the lid and plunger on the pot when the bottom is steep. The plunger won't withstand the falling and bottom pressure, so you can't brew the bottom with the lid on and you'll have to find something else to cover the carafe while brewing. Carafe, even if you can find some sort of lid to cover the carafe with a non-resting plunger, you lose a lot of heat in the five minutes it takes to brew the coffee grounds, making the coffee cold and less flavorful.

I only had a few French Press coffees and decided to buy my own. I chose this item as it is stainless steel and really beautiful. Lots of bad reviews for glass and plastic blocks so stainless steel was the best option. I'm very impressed with the Mixpresso press brew. This is a simple french press that can be easily disassembled for cleaning each time. I gave it a 4 for longevity because I've only been using it for 2 weeks. Time will tell if the strainer/filter mechanism will hold up as that usually breaks in these pots.
