Good Product on my review.

I like the fact that I no longer have to worry about breaking the old glass globe. The down side is that the light is not quite as bright but the lantern still is plenty bright and worked very well on our trip to Montana. I will be purchasing another wire mesh globe for my other Coleman lantern.

Pros
  • Provides a clear and translucent view of the flame
Cons
  • May not provide enough light for large camping parties or gatherings

Read my description first !

First of all I would like to say that this is a top quality project product, and should last much longer than my lifetime. The height is exactly right for a Coleman propane or gasoline lantern, but the diameter is approximately one 16th of an inch greater than the lip of the top and the base of the lantern to fit. It’s too big and will not fit at all, unless you make a V crimp crimp with some vise grip pliers and then extend the crimp at the top and bottom of the screen through the height of…

Pros
  • Enhances the safety of the users
Cons
  • Could potentially cause discomfort to wildlife and insects due to the reflection

No more broken globes

Work great for Colman lanternsEasy to install. I have them on two Colman lanterns. I have had to replace glass globes many times due to other people breaking them. Not any more.

Pros
  • Enhances the overall performance of the lantern
Cons
  • May require replacement more often than other globe options due to wear and tear

Security is the key.

It did dull the light a little, but the security of not having to replace the glass yet again makes it totally worth a little loss of light.

Pros
  • Does not emit harmful chemicals into the air
Cons
  • Could cause the lantern to tip over if it is too heavy for the base

I wonder why they just don't make there OEM

I had to cut a little slit in order to get it to fit my propane lantern. I'm glad I found this to replace the glass because I've gone thru at least 3 before finding this.

Pros
  • Quick installation and looking forward to not breaking another glass globe.
Cons
  • Stainless steel may not provide enough light diffusion

Unbreakable globe for my opinion

Great addition to improve durability of your lantern during rough transport. Obviously it does hamper brightness but only slightly. It WILL rust a little after being used, but this is not an issue for me. Diameter was not an exact fit with my Coleman DualFuel,, but still fit well enough to use.

Pros
  • Offers excellent performance even in harsh outdoor environments
Cons
  • Could react to certain chemicals and cleaning products

Works great.: my feedback

Works great. Fits perfectly on my Coleman 288. Delivered in less than 24 hours.Purchase with the Glass Sansport Replacement globe. I was going to see which worked best. The wire mesh "Globe" will actuall fit snugly over the glass globe.I will keep then both!.Very satisified.

Pros
  • Requires minimal assembly and installation
Cons
  • May cause discomfort to some users with sensitivities to metal

Being metal mesh, this globe can be adjusted and/or trimmed to fit your lantern (within reason). I've had a broken globe for years and been unable to find a glass one that fits. I was just about ready to donate a globeless lantern. This did the job! Thanks!(Lantern is a Century Quiet Light, Model 7056)

Pros
  • I was shocked at how well the light came through the screen and no more broken globes.
Cons
  • May scratch easily

Pretty good on my review.

Hi;Used this (first use this past weekend) to replace a glass globe in my older Coleman lantern.Maybe this problem is due to the (older) age of my lantern, but the bottom of screen did not exactly fit the globe support (base) of my lantern. The screen circumference is slightly larger than my lantern base.I had to put a small crimp in the bottom of screen to get the bottom small enough to fit.Other than that, it works fine. However, I do wish the screen was a little heavier so the top (cap) of…

Pros
  • Does not require any special cleaning or maintenance
Cons
  • May affect the overall brightness of the lantern

Excellent purchase.

What a genius idea. I have broken globes within minutes of pulling them out if the box at deer cAmp. Be sure and measure your lantern as there is only one size wire mesh globe and not made by or for Coleman. The one I ordered was just a little big but we made It work and they are surprisingly bright!Price for one is good!Price for two must be a typo.

Pros
  • Helps to reduce the risk of accidentally breaking the lantern
Cons
  • May not fit snugly if the lantern is not a perfect match for the replacement globe

Double check that it fits your model.

It is too small for my larger dual fuel lantern. I made one myself out of 1/8 inch grid hardware cloth, which is sturdier and blocks less light, but the galvanization of the wire of my own construction offgasses dangerous fumes in the heat. So I’m going to try to strip the galvanization off with muriatic acid, or find some hardware cloth that is stainless or some other material that is heat tolerant.

Pros
  • A UNIVERSAL REPLACEMENT: This particular mesh cylinder is designed for the Stansport 170 lanterns, but first-time Stansport customers will love how easily this shade slides into lanterns from other brands.
Cons
  • Could cause glare when trying to read or perform tasks

Perfect! No noticeable degradation in light!

I bought this after breaking the glass globe on my Coleman lantern for the 3rd time. I was initially worried that the screen mesh would make the lantern less bright, but it didn't. When I first took it out of the box, I held it over one of the bulbs in my dining room chandelier. The bulb I saw through the mesh looked just as bright as any of the others. Maybe some difference could be measured with an accurate light meter, I don't know. If there was a difference, it was imperceptible to me. It…

Pros
  • Rust-resistant for increased durability
Cons
  • May rust if exposed to moisture for extended periods

was able to fit an old centuri lamp

My best lantern fell and broke the glass, it appears it's not made anymore so replacement became a challenge. This was the right diameter but a little tall, was easy to cut a couple of notches to make it fit. I could have gone all out and trimmed to height, but am lazy and also thought the rigidity of the fold may be important. now its ready for next time its needed

Pros
  • Does not produce toxic fumes or odors when heated
Cons
  • May become discolored over time

Great idea. If only it worked.

This is great in theory, but Coleman makes their lenses glass for a reason. First, when you screw the cover on the mesh tends to crumble and not stay in place. Second, if there is wind the flame blows out. I wanted to like this as I broke two previous glass lenses, but it just isn’t the fix I was hoping for.

Pros
  • Camping & Hiking
Cons
  • May not be as durable as other replacement globe options

Does not my old good for me

Wanted like it and really i do But its way to small for 74 Coleman 220 and my older Coleman what ever it is, no markings, but with chrome tank and green shade. Also it's too big for my 1955 Coleman 200. That is why only 3 stars. Not fair I guess because I should have measured, but it does say(fits most). Over all it seems well made, I just can't us it. I'll keep it maybe I'll find a use for it.

Pros
  • Provides a good balance of light and heat
Cons
  • Could prevent proper ventilation if installed incorrectly

No more broken glass

Seems to be a great item, don't know how it will be with the wind yet. Was a little large in diameter but pinched it in a couple spots and it fit ok.

Pros
  • Highly resistant to chipping and cracking
Cons
  • Could cause damage to the lantern if not installed properly

Does not fit Coleman 1or 2 mantle propane lanterns

Just wanted to say I was impressed with the quality of this product, disappointed that it would not fit my Coleman 1 or 2 mantle propane lanterns ☹️

Pros
  • Does not adversely affect the environment in any way
Cons
  • Could make it difficult to see during rain or other precipitation

Revainrating 5 out of 5

save yourself from broken Glass covers

mesh mantle cover is better compared to fragile Glass covers. Have used for over 6 years in winter & in a smaller Barn wall mounted with propane exchange tanks. Lights up Easier, the mesh allows getting closer to the mantle, with a lit match or BBQ lighter. It Saves money on low mantainance costs having only to buy mantles or refill gas to have uses.

Pros
  • Can be used with most types of fuel, including propane and natural gas
Cons
  • Not as compact as other replacement options

Will never break best in my review

It does cut the light output a little bit and the lantern takes a little longer to light. You may need to bend it a little to get it to fit. But those slight disadvantages are offset by the fact that unlike a glass globe, this will never break. even if it gets knocked over or stored improperly. I haven't used it in real windy situations. I doubt the lantern will go out, just flicker a bit.

Pros
  • Provides additional protection against wind and rain
Cons
  • Could be prone to dents and scratches

Good to have on hand

Its nice to have on hand incase you brake a glass one. Also gives a softer light . Its a little shirter then most glass ones but it does work

Pros
  • PERFECT FOR ALL ACTIVITIES: Use this lantern replacement cover while camping, on the trail, while fishing, or any activity! Ideal for large or small outdoor gatherings, place it on top of the cooler, help give light to the stove, whatever you want!
Cons
  • Could affect the overall aesthetic of the lantern
