Engineering marvel

Amazing product. As with most things, the simpler the better. He easily finds nails and quickly and finally comes to life. There are no false alarms. It's a technical marvel and indestructible (I stepped on it and it didn't break). And all at a very low cost.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Unbelievable price

It takes a lot of patience to use this spike finder

The magnet on this spike finder is so small and sooooo weak that you really have to move it very slowly to see the reaction of the little yellow float. It was a $1.90 add-on item so I bought 2 to find multiple rivets at a time, but I probably won't use it other than a fridge magnet. For the price I paid it's not worth sending back.

Pros
  • Dope 🔥
Cons
  • Minor problems

Cheap low tech screw finder

I like that I don't need a battery. However, it takes patience to find the screws, and sometimes these screws get very dirty. So I spend a lot of time slowly rolling it around where I think there is a hairpin after hitting the walls to create a dull sound. His greatest talent is being a source of humor as this little guy gets excited when he finds a screw. and a hairpin. Yes, I could just try buying some strong magnets instead, but that works for me too.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Slightly wrinkled

It could be operator error

I don't know, I might be allergic to studs in the walls. I've literally had 4 different types of spike finders and haven't had any luck with any of them. I will say that it was the most reliable of the 4, but you should know that its "mechanism" is a magnet, so it will trip on any magnetic surface. So it could be a wire, junction box, nail (hopefully), etc., but if the nail isn't centered on the stud, then you've screwed everything up, etc. There's plenty of room for error for those of us. who…

Waste of money - magnet not strong enough

This nail finder doesn't have a magnet strong enough to find studs behind my walls. I went to my local hardware store and bought a CH Hanson 03040 magnetic bobby pin which you can buy right here at Revain and it works great. Batteries are not required. The CH Hanson magnet is very strong and easily sticks to the wall. It also has a level indicator. I've tried a few battery powered stud finders and found them to be a waste of money too. Use a CH Hanson 03040 magnetic viewfinder. Nothing else…

Pros
  • Pretty impressive
Cons
  • Lots of stuff

Simple and practical

I often look for a bolt to attach something to the wall. I have one of the electronic (capacitive) sensors and it works fine most of the time. But he is deceived by changes in the fairing, thick plaster and other features. I check spike placement with this simple spike finder to make sure I haven't been scammed. This viewfinder has a strong magnet, so it reacts quickly even when you're not very close. I look for a nail (or screw) that moves horizontally and mark its position with a pencil in…

Pros
  • Stable test results
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model
