idle is good. Really no change compared to the stock OEM temp sensor

Vostok to fit my 2001 Jeep Cherokee. Runs significantly cooler than a standard higher degree thermostat. I live in a hot climate so it works very well in hot weather with the AC on. idle is good. Actually no change from the standard OEM thermal.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Vulgarity

solid brand; Robust construction.

The Super Stant is known for its longevity and will not open up in the event of a failure like most cheaper alternatives which are known to do so within weeks or months. The materials are durable; crimping and assembly well done. The thermostat operates correctly within a range of 2% up or down from the nominal opening point. I have used several for several years and have always regretted trying the cheaper style.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Functionality

didn't open at all. Almost destroyed my new engine.

I fitted this new thermostat to my new engine and after the first start it never opened causing heat to build up. I noticed this right away because I had my hand on the exhaust hose and was using my thermal laser and then shut it off before it could do any damage. I went to my local auto shop and bought another one that worked great. This product is not worth returning so I threw it in the trash. I usually liked Stant's products.

Pros
  • An absolute legend
Cons
  • Some problems

Best - works great with BBC

I have a high power 454 motor with a conventional fan and brass heatsink. I use a Stant 180 degree SuperStat with all Chevy engines. On the 454, we ran the engine at 3000 rpm for over 20 minutes during the initial engine break-in, and it wasn't close to overheating. I drilled two small 1/16" holes in the thermostat housing to vent any air that got into the system. I'm not sure if this is an old story, but it didn't seem to hurt! Even with my rudimentary cooling system, my car never overheated.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Minor issues

I wouldn't buy the best engine cooling and air conditioning

I bought this thermostat to do a complete overhaul on my 1997 Jeep XJ. For 2 weeks after installation, the car just wouldn't run until it hit 250, resulting in overheating. I just installed a great 3 wire aluminum heatsink and 3 electric fans. High flow water pump (Flowkool), all new hoses (including lower hose with anti-compression spring). After a month of troubleshooting the cooling system I replaced the new thermostat with one from Autozone and the POOF no longer overheats. It looped as itโ€ฆ

Updated (04/02/19) Excellent quality, half the price of most others

I was expecting a lot of heat when I saw it on a truck with 180ยฐ instead of the factory 195 installed ยฐ thermostat, but still has super heating, I ordered about a year ago and finally installed it. I've only had it for about 5 weeks (today 29th Sep 18) but no problems and the seal came together easily and smoothly and the seal stays on. I'll try to update after the winter, here in Michigan winters are tough on vehicles, especially my driving style, I'll post then. still no problem

Pros
  • Delivery was very quick
Cons
  • Only available in black

Overall this is a good quality product

I bought this for my 1995 Jeep Wrangler because the heater wouldn't go above 120 degrees. I realized that the thermostat in my jeep had blown. I don't normally buy interior parts for my jeep because it's difficult to be sure something will fit without seeing the product in my hands. But since the price for it is next to nothing, I took a chance that it would fit and fix the heating problem. It fit in my Jeep with no problem, but the problem with the heater persisted. The heater heats up, butโ€ฆ

Not suitable for my engine

Ok. The thermostat itself works great so no complaints. But according to Revain, it was the right part for my car. She wasn't and wasn't. The thermostat I needed had a rubber grommet around the plate. This is not included. Without a grommet it is too small (I measured the old one without a grommet, they are the same in circumference). I didn't realize I needed a sleeved thermostat until I took it apart. It's my fault for not knowing. But it's also Revains fault for telling me it would fit myโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • I will add later

Installed in my 2003 Dodge Dakota with no issues. It's not the same as the OEM design but seems to work fine. I drilled a 1/16th hole to allow coolant to seep through like the OEM design and while it doesn't close the passage like the OEM I haven't had any problems so far. Actually my truck drives pretty cool and I live in Oklahoma and in June and July I was able to travel to Phoenix, LA, San Francisco, Reno, through Nevada and Utah on Hwy 50 to Denver and then back to the Oklahoma City areaโ€ฆ
