Starrett is the standard by which gauges should be judged.

Beautifully crafted, light but strong, smooth and reliable adjustment, accurate, unobtrusive and will last a lifetime (or more). Not the most expensive glider you can buy, but the best.

Take advantage of

Great product no problem I overpaid for it just because it was made in the USA. Shame on Starrett for taking advantage of my patriotism. There are even many Starret products that have a lot more machining and metal but cost the same? Find out.

Pros
  • American made tools and housewares
Cons
  • Unsure

Frustration with carpenter squares

I have a Starrett combo square that exudes quality so I was hoping for the same with the angle sensor. I was disappointed. The machining was terrible from the start with wire edges sticking out everywhere. The small black plastic handle feels very fragile. Save some money and get a Mitutoyo goniometer. Or you can buy a nice protractor from Blue Spruce for a little more (I made that).
