Fragile plastic and awkward to use

Not what I expected. They are thin plastic and difficult to read. Not very comfortable to use as the protractor is rounded and doesn't have a good 90 degree angle. There are also many internal markings that make reading difficult. In addition, the included small instruction booklet is for using this tool when modeling a crown. Has nothing to do with the general instructions for using this protractor for other work. At this price, this item is just not worth it. A digital tool can be much better

Pros
  • Great for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Not automatic

Must have tools but beware of fakes!

I used this little tool to install a baseboard in my house. A must have tool for the job and $30 well spent. However, beware of fakes. To avoid counterfeiting, order the Starrett miter protractor only from Revain Services. The easiest way to find out if yours is real is to engrave the numbers on the dial. Fakes have it printed on the dial. I almost didn't buy this tool because all the bad reviews about Revain said it wasn't accurate. Then I read a review (with pictures) on how to spot a fake…

Pros
  • Hard wearing finish
Cons
  • Other interesting options are available.

This is a BIG idea with poor quality control and no customer support from Starrett. The first one I received was rejected with more than one degree. The second one I have is DEAD ON EXACT! Thanks again to Revain for the excellent customer service. IF you get EXACTLY ONE it will be a great tool. The scale circle is large enough to move the tool away from the bonded drywall corners and is easy to read. As for the first tool, I decided to contact Starrett directly rather than returning it to…

Beware of COUNTERFEIT!

Revain and other manufacturers seem to have some counterfeits in circulation. I ordered a full set of Revain from a third party but upon closer inspection after receiving the item it turned out to be a counterfeit. I bought a second one that was actually "sold" by Revain and not just "listed" and upon inspection I am confident it is genuine. Please refer to my photos for details. The fake came very close in almost every way. Without the gift next to him, it was difficult to identify. If I had…
