Works exactly as advertised! I decided to revive my Sony FD-85 1.3 megapixel camera. I was happy to find a battery on the Revain and then I found that I couldn't read the old 8MB memory cards. I was familiar with StarTech so I went with this adapter. I just plugged it in and used it on both my Windows 10 laptop and High Sierra Mac.

I photograph concerts and live performances. So I come back with an absolutely ridiculous amount of photos. This card reader is incredibly fast. I can capture all the images from a Sony 128GB card in about 6 minutes. with macbook pro. (You must use fast UHS-II cards for this kind of speed) I have traveled the world twice. holds up well.

Works well for me, fast on USB3, although I find your range for wireless keyboards and mice decreases significantly if you use USB3 for anything. These seem to be more reliable for getting all the bits right when writing SD cards for Raspberry Pi and other similar things where every bit counts. I put this on a hub I received from Amazon with switches to turn it off when not in use to allow my keyboards and mice to work across the room and not within 2ft - it's not just this item, it's most USB3

I was looking for a memory card reader that can be used as a bootable device similar to a USB flash drive. microSD card with this device without any problems. This device adds 2 boot options, one for MicroSD/HC and SD/SDHC/SDXC/MMC cards and the other for MS/MSXC cards. Very happy with the read/write performance too, since it supports USB 3.0 I don't have to buy a USB stick anymore. I find it better to buy multiple microSD cards if needed as they can be used in most other devices.

I bought the USC-C version of this dual slot SD card reader and I couldn't be happier!
